My spouse and I visited Soul Forking Good for the very first time on Wednesday, 9.17.2025 around 6:20pm. Let me say this, I am a firm believer in giving black owned businesses support and a chance to prove themselves. However, as we entered the establishment, the vibe was off, but needless to say, we stayed. There was a line which was not a problem as there was not adequate space for seating to dine in. Once we reached the register, the young lady that was present to take our order came off as rude and arrogant. I advised the young lady that it was our first time in the establishment and that we had a few questions. The young lady appeared agitated, rolled her eyes and asked, "What do you want to know"? I proceeded to ask her can she explain the two meat plates, is it limited to just certain meats or is there an upcharge for specific meats, etc. The cashier then stated, "you get two meats and two sides". I just stared at her for a moment because she did not provide clarity on my question. Then I proceeded to place my order...we asked for catfish, the cashier replied, "we out". We asked for turkey wings, the cashier replied, "we out". I then stated, lets simplify this, can you please tell me what items on your menu are available...the cashier stated, "chicken, meatloaf, pork chops and whiting". I then ordered a plate with smothered pork chops, yams, and cabbage. When the cashier rung my order, I noticed on the register screen that it stated rice and cabbage, so I asked the cashier, did you get the yams because it is showing rice on the screen. The cashier then stated, "I got this, you can't see what I am ringing up, you will get your yams". I then asked, what type of bread comes with the plate, hush puppies or roll, and the cashier replied, "neither". The cashier then stated, if you want all the other stuff on the menu then you need to come in early." At this point, I just wanted to cancel my order and leave but I maintained my composure and then looked at my spouse and told him that he could order his food and our son's food, which was two plates with smothered pork chops, mac 'n' cheese, and yams. After placing the order, I was unable to tap or insert my card. The cashier then stated, "I have to key your card number in." I gave her my card and then had to provide her with the zip code. I received my card and my receipt. My spouse and I proceeded towards the door area to wait for our food. During the extended wait, one of the staff members came out and locked the entry door. My spouse then stated, "I take it that this is our first and last time coming here" and my reply, "of course it is". My spouse then stated, "the prices are too high for a restaurant that you can't even dine in." My reply, "it ain't about the prices, inflation is up everywhere but that piss poor service at the register was a deal breaker for me. The food was not the best, too much pepper on the cabbage and entirely too much salt in...
Read moreOn this journey of seeing this on social media, I just had to try it out, because why not...... Soul food is one of my favorite traditional cuisines that I love to eat and if I find a good one I will stick to it. Knowing to say it is a food truck so my expectations were kind of iffy. So first of all, it was a little difficult to find but after you pass it and bust a U-turn and the entrance is very small, meaning only 1 car at a time. The staff or the owner was amazing very nice and professional. The menu was nice and small so not too much to overthink on what you want. We got the fried shrimp, pork chop, with a fish sandwich and chicken wings. My first impression was that I was going to get the fish on bread like a sandwich not separate as if I ordered 2 orders of fried fish. Overall the fish was cooked well and not overdone. The pork chops were also cooked to perfection and it didn't have a fishy taste as if it was cooked in the same grease, a good thing. I also ordered a side of fries which seemed to be freshly cut potatoes and not frozen. They were seasoned well and fried with a nice crunch to them. Now let's get down to the sides..... the green beans were ok nothing to say it brought my meal together. The cabbage was cooked well and it was good and flavorful and this was one of the best sides by far from both meals. The mac n cheese was good and flavorful as well. Didn't really need to add any additional season to it. The yams was yamming though I have to admit they were the star of the dish. Overall I would give them a 7 out of 10 and would I return yes. Loved the customer service and energy they gave. I would like to try other things on the menu just to see if the ratings...
Read moreThis was my first time trying this place as I saw an advertisement. Yes I stood in a long line waiting to get in but to me it was well worth the wait. I met some really nice people, I laughed and had an awesome time while the line moved at good pace. Once I got in, the atmosphere was really great. Soul Forking good staff was working really hard to complete orders. They displayed pleasant attitudes, their customer service is top notch because there were some complaining, rude and disgruntled customers because they had been waiting a while. Listen people! When the food is as good as THIS IS then you should understand there’s going to be a wait. So the turkey wings was one of the hot items of the night and they ran out of them BUT more was cooking and it took an hour. So you could either wait, order something else or leave. I waited and it was wellllllll worth the wait!!! All of Soul Forking Good’s food was so good I wished I would have gotten two plates! There wasn’t a staff member in that place who wasn’t working to fill those orders and with the exception of a few, we were all satisfied with our food! I’m definitely going to load up my church vans, tell my family, tell all of my friends and we all are going to head back to support you guys. Thank you for your EXCELLENT customer service and your bangingggggg FOOD!! See you guys real...
