Shogun Restaurant — Restaurant in Dyersburg

Unfortunately, nothing about our visit was enjoyable, and the prices were outrageously high for what we received. The bathroom had such a foul odor I couldn’t even bring myself to use it — I genuinely have no idea what the smell was, but it was awful. Despite being the only customers there, I waited over 30 minutes for my sushi, and it didn’t arrive until after my friend had already finished her meal.

Her dish was supposed to be served on a sizzling plate — it wasn’t. The chicken was dry, the “fried rice” was just plain, flavorless white rice, and the soup was barely edible. The martini tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. As for my $16 sushi, it came as 8 tiny pieces and tasted terrible.

The staff were kind, but sadly, that’s the only good thing I can say. I wouldn’t recommend this...

We had read some bad reviews but decided to try it anyway. First off, the restaurant is in need of an update. The place is dark and kind of depressing. It could also use a deep cleaning. The bathrooms were gross, the floor was flooded and trashcans were put inside the toilets to keep you from using them. The food however was delicious. A family of 3, we had hibachi and split a shrimp tempura roll. The meat was tender and juicy and we really had no complaints there. If you are used to the chef being in anyway entertaining through the cooking process though, you will be disappointed. There was no action whatsoever and the chef just leaned against the wall the majority of the time. Overall, they need an upgrade, some bleach and some enthusiasm. I rate...

I've eaten in several Shoguns in the south & they were all wonderful so when we stayed at the motel next door, I thought "why not"? I ordered salmon. It wasn't even 1/2 inch thick & the cook put SO much salt, soy..whatever it was...on it that it was not fit to eat. The hostess/manager lady was rude. The waiter was wonderful & when the manager didn't want to take the salmon off my $129 bill, he actually argued with her until she did. The floors were SO sticky that my shoes made a suction sound as I walked. That night all of us (there were 4 in our party) had to take Pepto because our stomachs were upset....
