Joe's Pizza and Pasta — Restaurant in East Alton

I love Chicago pizza so I was excited to see the photo on the website and decided we had to come try it.

We arrived at 1pm on a Saturday and the place was empty except for us and one other table. Service was reasonable and the wait time for our food was appropriate given that Chicago pizzas take a long time to cook properly.

I ordered the small Chicago style pizza. It was cooked perfectly and the crust was awesome. The cheese was good, sausage was ok (a bit sweet for my preference) but the sauce was not good at all. Worst of all, altogether the pizza was way, Way, WAY too salty.

My husband had a regular style margherita pizza and he said his was ok, but also super salty.

As far as atmosphere goes, it's too big of an area and needs decor, etc, to make it feel more inviting. I'd also recommend eliminating some of the menu items so that you can really feature items... Had I not seen the Chicago pizza on the web, I probably would have missed it entirely...

Girl taking my order kept repeating my order back to me incorrect. Went over it multiple times she said she got it. The order showed up wrong so I called,same girls answers.when I told her it was wrong she insisted it was correct. After I told her repeatedly it was not what I ordered she says. I don't know what to tell you! I finally got to a manager at least that is what I'm told, manager says girl is new and that she would have a talk with her. Manager is sending out the correct order! Inexperience and a poor attitude is not a good excuse. A friendly and helpful attitude will cover most mistakes. A few employees like this one will cause a lot of people to never return. I am a loyal customer especially to local businesses and if you can find a mom and pop place. All you business folks out there good luck finding an employee who cares anything except what time do I get off and where...

Super disappointed. Reserved the private room for a large party. Went into the restaurant the day before, paid the $100 deposit (FYI they charge you $100 + $3 card fee, then when the bill comes you pay your entire bill (plus another $3 card fee)and have to wait 3-5 days for them to refund the $100) and gave them multiple pre orders knowing we would have a large party. Hoping it would make it easier on them. 30-40 was the estimate, we ended up with 50. We show up and they have 1 waitress working our entire group. Pre order list was not given to staff. After we stood around for a hour thinking our food would be out anytime, staff approaches and said they didn’t have our pre orders.
