Out of all of the high-end steakhouses in Grand Rapids, this is by far the best. We started out with the shrimp bisque, and it was excellent. I ordered the filet and it was the best steak I have had in my entire life. My husband isn’t a huge steak person so he made the mistake of getting salmon. It was good, but it was salmon that you could get at any restaurant. Get steak if you are coming here. The filet was 10 ounces and seasoned perfectly. It literally melted in my mouth. We also got Brussels and bellies. They were fantastic. I forgot to add that they start you off with bread and butter and it is very good. It was my birthday so I got something chocolate, but I can’t remember what it was. It was a slice of rich chocolate with ice cream on top and chocolate syrup over it. I wasn’t hungry enough for too much, but I knew my husband would gladly eat what I didn’t. I am not a big chocolate person, but it was good and my husband said it was amazing. Service was fantastic from the time we entered until the time we left. As far as the cost, it is expensive and you should know that and expect that when you come to eat here, but there our ways to make it a little less expensive. They have steaks that are large enough to split and the appetizer is also big enough to split. Overall, we had a great experience and we will be back. For us, this is a once or twice a year treat. We were just there at the end of December and I’m already ready to go back again, but trying to wait a little bit. Go now if you love steak and you haven’t been!

We had prime tartare, shrimp bisque, truffle fries, and the tomahawk. We liked that the prime tartare wasn't heavily seasoned so we could enjoy the good quality meat. While we were excited about the tomahawk, it was very fatty and a little hard to chew. The restaurant wasn't very full, but the service was slow. We had to wait a lot for the entree.

Overpriced and disappointing. The menu was limited and unclear, the so-called Tomahawk steak was just beef with a bare bone on the side, and the atmosphere was dark and airless. To top it off, the waiter even asked if I wanted to take the bone!. Definitely not worth it

Prepare yourself for a dining experience that will leave you utterly speechless. Bowdie's Chophouse in East Grand Rapids is an absolute gem for steak enthusiasts, and I can confidently say that it is one of the finest establishments I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. From the first bite to the last, every aspect of the experience at Bowdie's was nothing short of exceptional.

Let's start with the stars of the show: the filet mignon and bone-in ribeye. The filet mignon was a masterpiece of tenderness, cooked to absolute perfection and bursting with rich, succulent flavors. Each bite melted in my mouth, leaving me in awe of the chef's skill and the quality of the meat. As for the bone-in ribeye, it was a carnivorous delight. The marbling was impeccable, resulting in a steak that was juicy, flavorful, and utterly unforgettable. The expert grilling techniques employed at Bowdie's truly elevate these cuts of beef to new heights.

To accompany these mouthwatering steaks, I indulged in the au gratin potatoes, and they were nothing short of extraordinary. The creamy, cheesy goodness of the potatoes was perfectly complemented by a golden, crispy crust. It was a divine marriage of textures and flavors that left me craving more. The Brussels and Belly, a delightful combination of crispy Brussels sprouts and succulent pork belly, provided a satisfying contrast and added a touch of indulgence to the meal.

As a seafood lover, I couldn't resist trying the crabcakes, and they exceeded my highest expectations. These golden-brown beauties were packed with generous amounts of sweet, delicate crab meat, perfectly seasoned and expertly seared. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, showcasing the chef's dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients.

The attention to detail at Bowdie's extends beyond the extraordinary dishes. The service is impeccable, with a knowledgeable and attentive staff that caters to your every need. They are well-versed in the menu and happy to provide recommendations, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is tailored to perfection.

The elegant and sophisticated ambiance of Bowdie's Chophouse further enhances the overall experience. The dimly lit dining room, adorned with tasteful decor, creates an intimate and refined atmosphere, perfect for special occasions or romantic evenings.

In conclusion, Bowdie's Chophouse is a haven for steak lovers and discerning food connoisseurs alike. The filet mignon and bone-in ribeye are absolute showstoppers, while the au gratin potatoes, Brussels and belly, and crabcakes add exquisite variety to the menu. Combined with exceptional service and an ambiance that exudes elegance, Bowdie's Chophouse is a culinary destination that surpasses all expectations. Prepare yourself for a gastronomic adventure that will leave a...

PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO VISIT THEIR GRAND RAPIDS LOCATION. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE Myself and other ladies traveled up to 1 1/2 hours for a dinner reservation that was made well in advance with a deposit to secure the reservation at Bowdies, 2237 Wealthy St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Our group consisted of 11 women of color with families, jobs, businesses and lives that keep us very busy so rarely do we get a chance to all get together without our kids, spouses, significant others, or having to handle work/or business matters. So when our schedules aligned to have a evening out together, we were elated to get out, support a local business and have a good ladies evening out to celebrate one of our dearest friend's birthdays. Upon our arrival we referenced the call we had with a Bowdie's employee that took our reservation and minutes later David, the manager approaches our table and insulted us in various ways with his tone, unprofessional actions, poor customer services, and false claims. Claiming we were being untruthful and caused an unnecessary, embarrassing and dreadful scene. Then threatened to call the police. Upon the arrival of the police, he continues to lie and I called him out on the lies since I witnessed the reservation being made and heard what the employee stated to us. As other visitors were leaving, one mentioned that they seen accommodations made before even WITHOUT a reservation and could NOT believe how we were being treated. One stated the way we were treated was unacceptable and they will not be returning and will share our experience. This experience made our entire group feel embarrassed, unwelcomed, humiliated, and unfairly targeted. We left feeling deeply upset and believe this behavior is discriminatory and unacceptable. We hope that Bowdie's takes this matter seriously and implements better training for their staff to prevent these type of encounters for future visitors. We're thankful that Ruth Chris Steakhouse was able to accommodate us and provided excellent customer service, flavorful food and a great experience for our group and they were much more busy compared...

Me and my family frequent Bowdies quite often. I have brought several of my family members here from out of town over the years. For the most part we have received great food and service, but our last couple visits have been going downhill with a lack of attention to detail and food quality and our most recent visit to Bowdies in East Grand Rapids, Michigan was by far the worst and may be our last. My husband and I went to Bowdies March 26, 2024 to celebrate our anniversary and the food was not at all good. We ordered a steak medium that came out well done on most pieces, and even burnt on the edges of some pieces, flavorless au gratin potatoes, cold mushrooms and tiny portion of Brussels and belly. We instantly alerted the waiter to our problem of overcooked steak to which he offered his opinion that it was close to medium except for 75% of the steak which was clearly well done. To that he offered us some Salt and pepper. My husband suggested a new steak be cooked. The manager, Emma came over to our table with somewhat of a blank stare. She didn’t really say why she stopped by, but we assumed she was coming to rectify the situation, or to at least find out what the issue was. We began to explain the mishaps of the evening with our food. And she nodded her head. At that point, our waiter, Manny, came over and told her he had everything under control, and she replied, “Oh OK, he’s handling you guys” and walked away. She never came back to see if everything turned out OK she never came back to see if we were content at all. No apology was offered, just no action as a manager. She passed us 4 times with no reaction or concern. The second round of food was much better, not great. The steak was MAJORITY fat and we order their steaks all the time. As we left, we found Emma by the bar, drinking, which maybe would have been fine had she handled us appropriately as guests. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here or recommending anyone to spend their money (Bowdies is not exactly cheap) when the service and food has gone so far...
