🦞 Wait there’s a new Lobster Roster at your local @margsmex restaurant? I’m sure a Mexican restaurant isn’t what pops into your head when you think about getting 🦞 this summer, but maybe you should! The Lobster Quesadilla with the avocado crema was cheesy and delicious, and while I’m typically a hot butter lobster roll girl, this cold lobster roll made me regret that I was splitting it and sharing it with @Eric Weaver! 😋 Of course you have to try several margs at a place called Margaritas, but that’s just my opinion, they do have mocktails as well if that’s your thing! 🍹 Honestly, I have a little regret for talking the hubby out of ordering lobster queso, lobster nachos, or lobster tacos since I wanted to try some other menu items because the lobster specials we tried did impress! On our way out, we noticed people seem to love the bar, so I definitely see happy hour in our future. There’s even a weeknight kids eat free, so check out their socials for more info! #partner #margaritas #lobsterroster #easthartfordct #lobsterquesadilla #lobsterseason #newengland

This wasn't my first time here. I've been going to East Hartford Margaritas for at least two decades now. Food and drinks used to be good. After my this visit, it'll always be a hard no for me. Atmosphere is nothing short of a nightclub. Music was so loud you couldn't hear the person sitting next to you so there's no point of conversing. I love music but not to the point where I can't hear myself think. Before sitting down, the man cleaning our table did say, "we have one server so it may be a while." Cool. We had nowhere to be and I had been craving steak fajitas. Not a big deal. Server finally came and we put all our orders in because of the situation. Drinks took about 20-30 minutes to arrive. Chips and salsa are complimentary but didn't come until after our drinks. Do we were twiddling our thumbs for a while, listening to very loud music. Again, we were prepared. My son ordered a chicken quesadilla and when his food came out there was no chicken so he only ate fries and chips. My husband's chicken fajita was fine except for the burnt rice. The burnt taste permeated the entire rice so he couldn't that. Server asked how I'd like my steak to be cooked and I ordered it medium rare. It came out well the first time. The second time it was rare so I asked for the manager. It was the same man cleaning the table and warning us that there's only one server tonight. I didn't realize he was the manager as well. He came over and said, "I heard you guys don't want to pay for the food?!" No. That's not what we said at all! I told him the steak situation and when I asked for it to be cooked a bit more he rolled his eyes. I made him aware of my husband's burnt rice but apparently I was "the only one complaining about the rice all night." I did nicely tell him we were aware of the one server but it shouldn't have anything to do with our food, which came out in a fair amount of time. The only thing I was upset about was the wrong orders and messed up steak temp. My family ate without me. Well, the manager's floodgates opened and we felt like we were his punching bags of the night. "I can't help that five people called out today. I can't help if no one wants to work. I told you before you sat down!" The churros were hard. Queso dip was too runny. Mediocre food at best at this point of what was edible. I still left a very nice tip even after he took my fajita meal off as he should. Also, if you're that short staffed, close the business or only keep the bar open with simple food. We only went to East Hartford because the Wilmington location is closed on Mondays. I'm super disappointed in this business as I've been a patron for over 20 years. Always went to happy hours with coworkers, friends and family. I do hope they get it together so their business thrives.

The annual event we attend was held again with COVID restrictions finally lifted in Connecticut, so we looked forward to revisiting Margaritas Mexican Restaurant once more. For a quick summary, the margaritas get five stars and the food three. The large space here still provides many ornamental private booth areas for diners, a very large bar room and true Mexican décor. The two dinners I originally reviewed here are no longer available. It's a large menu and for regulars, a variety of dishes can be explored. # Happened to drive by this restaurant after an event at the stadium and decided to get some food. The parking lot was jammed so it occurred to us it was Cinco de Mayo. Lots of seating allowed us to get a table right away. Large Margarita menu as well as food choices many of which are true Mexican fare. Chips and a hot salsa come before your meal. I ordered three enchiladas that are served in a skillet with three meats, one of each: beef, chicken and carnitas (pork). Choice of refried or black beans and rice come as sides. My companion had the "Mexican flag" entrée which was also three enchiladas but with three different sauces. One green (tomatillo), one white (sour cream) and one red. (Salsa) Our waitress, though nice and attentive, did forget to ask him which meat he wanted do they gave him chicken. He wanted beef. We boxed what we couldn't eat. We each tried two different Margaritas to sample them. All satisfactory. Customers have the option of upgrading their tequilas for an extra fee from a varied selection. This is the kind of place you'd have to frequent to decide what you like best here with such a large menu.

I took a rest stop during a long road trip back to NY and stopped here. The moment I walked into the restaurant the waitress avoided eye contact. I had to walk into the bar area to find the bartender for help. As we are seated the same waitress walks by gives me eye contact and quickly avoids it. The person who helped us, lets us know our waitress will be right with us. Guess who it was, I am sure you can. She writes our drinks down and leaves. we are ready to give her our food orders when she comes back but she rushes away without given us a chance to even see the drinks put down. We wait. She finally comes back to take our very simple order. while she avoids us some more. And I had to literally raise my voice for her to come back to give us water. I know the place had a little crowd but nothing SLAMMED. Anyone who’s done this job before knows what that word means. They also know kind gestores like smiling, recognizing a human is there and a quick “I’ll be right with you” go A LONG WAY. I knew she judged us the moment we walked in - face tatted, I just worked a 2 day Hday event tattooing so I am clearly not dressed to go out dancing, my brothers full beard, looks mean, crazy tatted. So in her mind “no tip there” .. It then takes 40 mins for the food to come out AS I am trying to just take it to go at this point. The BEST part… THE ORDER IS WRONG !!! Everything ordered was standard menu items with 1 request for no sour cream and guacamole!! It was God my brother didn’t realize this in the restaurant.. I only left the $5 tip because my brother made me. But sweetheart you met the right one. I am an OG to your position. I pay forward to those who serve and do their job well. That would of been a $25 tip on a $54 (3 item bill)… It’s not an easy job. But it’s not rocket science either. You pick and chose who you are nice too because your cute (for now) you will get older, and that’s exactly what you’ll be. Old. Thanks for being the one place open on a 5 hr...
