Prices: The prices are similar to many other sushi places I've been to, about $5-$6 for most of the simpler rolls like California rolls, and about $10-13 for most of the specialty rolls.
Service: The waiter was pleasant enough, but after taking our order, he was nearly impossible to find for long stretches at a time.
The food: My friend got a sea monster roll (vegetarian) and was pleased with it. Unfortunately my experience was not so pleasant. I ordered a rainbow roll and I anticipated just fish on the top of the roll I ordered, but received shrimp and eel on mine, in addition to the fish. Different to everywhere else I've had rainbow rolls, but I figured I could have inquired about it to know exactly what was on it, and that was on me. I'd take off what I'm not a fan of and still eat, since I didn't want to waste a $13 roll.
I tried the first piece and while the tuna definitely hasn't become rancid, it's definitely not good. I'd had sushi elsewhere 4 days prior, and the difference was dramatic. The taste was mediocre and the texture was... okay-ish. However, when I got to a piece with a different type of fish, the texture was very, very wrong. I tried to just chew and swallow it, but it felt weirdly congealed and I wasn't able to adequately chew it to swallow and I had to spit out the entire piece into my napkin. At this point I don't trust any more of their sashimi and don't want to end up sick all night, so ask if I could just get a California roll.
A woman (the manager maybe?) comes over to tell me that they'll make me a California roll, "but [their] fish is fresh." Repeatedly. This isn't an oceanside sushi shop, this is in Michigan. There can be a lot that happens between catching the fish and transporting it that far inland, and fish can get funny pretty quickly if not stored well. So even if they got it that day and it was as "fresh" as she adamantly told me it was, it doesn't mean that the fish is good.
The California roll was fine. Not spectacular, not bad. I wouldn't have thought it memorable enough to think about without the rest of the incident. I liked that it was crab salad versus just a krab stick. Maybe a little much mayonnaise for some, maybe perfect for others. Just middle of the road. Though that's taking into account questionable buffet sushi too.
They were kind enough to comp my entire bill, but unfortunately that isn't enough to entice me back there. At least not if I want non-vegetarian sushi. If they're so adamant that fish was fresh, their standards worry me. I don't want to press my luck again, since I was so relieved I didn't end up...
Read moreworst restaurant experience of my life quite honestly WIL MAKE YOU SICK (donât waste your money). I waited over 45 minutes to pay and they charged me 3 times, the servers and owner were very rude, owner in particular, and my girlfriend and i got violently sick from the food,(it gave us food poisoning from sitting out so long).I had ordered a carry out order online, and when i showed up to pick it up, there computer systems were not working and they said it wasnât accepting my card. After they tried to swipe my card 3 times and i waited there for 45 mins at least they said it wouldnât run and took down my card info to pay for my order later. To later find out they charged me 3 times for my order. I let them know of there mistake very nicely and they were rude and tried to tell me i was wrong. Not to mention how rude they were when i waited 45 minutes to pay. i asked for an extra spicy mayo 35 minutes into the wait to pay and they charged me for it which i thought was pretty funny. In my opinion this felt like they just...
Read moreSo we came here and told our server we would have a larger group. She then seated us an didnât even ask us what we might want to drink until 10 minutes later. The restaurant was empty so there was no excuse. It just went downhill from there. She was going out to smoke every 10 minutes and not washing her hands when she came back. My partner could smell the cigarettes on his glass everytime she would refill his water. When she brought us our drinks we ordered an appetizer and she didnât bring it out until 30 minutes later and it was cold when it wasnât supposed to be. When our friends join us at the restaurant she didnât even bring waters to them until an hour into us being there as a group. She told our friend she would bring him a sweet red wine and she brought him Pinot Noir which is the complete opposite of what he asked for. The food was pretty good but overpriced and the service was absolutely awful. Probably wonât be...
