Not really sure what to make of this place. The food and atmosphere are laid back, like something you WOULD find in Mexico just off the beach. Except Mexican food is usually cheap. The food is great... But the prices are high like fine dining. For the price I would recommend Lola's in Longmeadow, because you'll be getting a more of a fine dinning experience for the same price.
The Staff: are helpful, although not very friendly. Seemed to get straight to the point, no fluff. There seemed to be too much staff.
The Food: is comfort Mexican food, all the favorites are here and the 14 page menu will definitely have something for you. The food was good, and not as heavy as you would think. The portions are large. You are given chips, salsa, and ceviche for free. I thought free ceviche was odd, since it's a very unique dish that may not be for everyone. Food was great, definitely the best Mexican joint in the area.
The Price: was confusing, everything is the photo below came out to $131.71. 3 birria tacos, with a serving of rice, refried beans, consume, onions, and a small salad (lettuce and tomatoes) was $19. It's $18 for 5 street tacos.
The 2 person meal with 3 birria tacos and a fiesta (sampler) platter ($20) cost us $49, which seems a bit high for Mexican food. 2 taquilla flights with 6 shots must've cost us $82 because our total was $131.71. Very confused by the bill. You can buy 2 giant bottles of Taquilla for under $80, I get that shots at a bar/restaurant are expensive but this seems excessive?
The atmosphere: is loose, fun, and casual, I expect flip flops, shorts, and a t-shirt to fit right in this place. The dining room is large, maybe 30-40 tables in the main area, plus another 10 or so in the side area, with outdoor seating being an option, and a banquet hall.
The fact that the East Longmeadow Chipotle is always packed, suggests this area doesn't know good Mexican food, so I hope this place does well. But I think they have created an odd market for their food. Perhaps I did not understand this place, and will return to give it another go. This place will do well with takeout, but that leaves their large dinning room area as a...
Read moreMy father and I came here to this restaurant (formerly Toritos) to watch the South American soccer tournament Copa America. Uruguay 🇺🇾 came in at #3 🙌So we got to try a lot of the food on the menu and drinks. Walking in , it’s vibrant and nice Latin music playing in the background. Nothing overbearing , just pleasant. It is very spacious, with almost 2 different sections you can choose to sit at. You can sit at the bar, which looks like it seats about 12-15 ppl. And about 4-5 tv screens. They are very sports related, soccer in particular. But very accommodating as well. Then you can sit right behind the car, divided by a small wall. Where large groups can sit and still watch tv for your sports. They always greet you with free tortilla chips, salsa and refried beans. I always look forward to that. I have had their street tacos made with corn shells, soft and sized to chomp down one taco in 2 bites. Beware of their hot sauces, they serve them in little dipping cups, but it is very hot/spicy! Their homemade guacamole is so good! I think maybe the best I have ever had. I can’t even remember what’s my #2 favorite one, this one is the winner! Be careful, you will develop an obsession with quesadilla de Birria! Just fenomenal! They serve it with the birria sauce (like au jus )to dunk, dip & devour every bite. Then the margaritas.. oh boy .. are perfect! Abs the staff is great! They already know me and my dad, and our friend Jorge that joined us to watch the soccer games. Bartender is really nice , the owners and the servers. It’s a very chill spot to eat really good food, catch up with friends, or go in a large group after church or big family dinners. Or your next work event with coworkers. And they also have a large patio where you can eat outside and enjoy the sunset. Each table has its own umbrella. If you go there because of this re ire, tell them that...
Read moreThis is by far the best Mexican Restaurant I have been to since moving here from the West Coast. Flavourful with decent portions. I had the Enchiladas Supremas which are 5 differently-filled enchiladas that were filled with 3 types of meat, shredded chicken, ground beef, and shredded beef and the other two are cheese and beans. The tortillas were soft, the cheese was fresh, not hard after cooling off and the sauce was full of flavor. When I go to ANY new Mexican restaurant I always try their enchiladas first, as this is my favorite dish, and this will determine if I will return or not... I DEFINITELY will be returning. If you like margaritas, they have a sampler of 4 which were just delicious. Their salsas were spicy and oh so good if you like heat on your Mexican food as I do. My group ordered street tacos that came with 5 tacos, the Asada Burrito which is huge, and birria tacos....sooo good. The restaurant has lots of tables with enough space from each other that you are not overhearing another party's conversation and even a bar in the back with additional seating. The service was awesome, they checked up on us frequently to be sure we like everything and/or needed anything else. I can't wait for our next date night. Next time, I'll take pictures for you...
