The restaurant is located across the street from the East LA Civic Center. They have a variety of food including burgers, hot dogs, chili cheese, fries, sandwiches, and a variety of other types of food. Customer service is great, people are friendly and knowledgeable. If you pay with debit or credit, there is an up charge of I believe 50 cents.
I purchased a jr cheeseburger and seasoned fries. The burger itself was very tasty, the secret sauce I think honestly was thousand Islands and maybe another type of sauce mixed with it. But it definitely tasted like a thousand Islands dressing. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were very fresh. Next time, I may ask for the onions to be grilled rather than for them to be raw, but that is just my own preference. The bun itself was very nice and fluffy and did not taste like it was days old bread. The burger itself was pretty big, even though it was their Jr cheese burger. I definitely would not be able to finish a regular sized burger, but I don't eat quite a lot.
The seasoned fries were seasoned very nicely and most of them had a good crunch, but I continued to bite into some that were a bit stale. Maybe they had been sitting around for a bit. From 1 to 5, I would give them a 4. Maybe next time I can order them fresh, that would probably make them a 5. I did ask for ketchup and ranch. The ketchup was your average type of ketchup, no comments. The ranch dressing itself had a more watery consistency. I tend to enjoy ranch dressing that is thicker. But that is my own preference, if you prefer a more watery ranch, this one is still tasty. They do charge for extra sauce, but they did give me ketchup and ranch for free, so I'm not entirely sure how that works. Their yellow peppers come pre-wrapped, which I thought was very convenient and sanitary.
I did not try their beverages, but they do have sodas, water and some sort of juices. They do have aguas frescas, but they are not actually aguas frescas. They are those aguas frescas that are premade (not what I consider an actual agua fresca).
I don't believe the location has a public restroom, but I did not inquire about that.
The dine-in space is very small, and on a warm day it can get a little stuffy inside. I ended up sitting outside and it felt fresher outside, keep in mind it is summer at the time I am submitting this review. There are not too many tables inside, so if you are thinking of purchasing food for your family, I would suggest eating outside at the benches, or taking the food home.
There are some tables outside of the restaurant. I would suggest to take some napkins and wipe them down. I did wipe down the chair I was planning to sit on and it was not dirty. Which leads me to believe that they probably clean them on a daily basis when putting them out. I did not test the benches for cleanliness, but I would probably ear on the side of caution and take some extra napkins to wipe them down.
Overall, I had a good experience. Will definitely return to try the rest...
ย ย ย Read moreI had never left a bad review before but today I had a terrible experience at this restaurant.. my cousin had spent telling me about this place that is so good and that had vegetarian options since I'm a vegan sounded like a good place to try on our lunch break today..so when we arrived there was no line infront of us so we go ahead and order two veggie burgers with two drinks.. we waited for almost 30 mins!! And when they finally called our number i go ahead and saw my burger with bacon so I told the cooker" it supposed to be a double veggie burger" the guy looked confused so I checked the ticket and saw two double bacon burgers not a two double veggie burgers.. so the guy told me no problem let me re do them.. so me and my cousin waited for around 15 min more and when they finally call us again I saw the same bacon burgers.. don't get me wrong but to be there waiting almost an hour for a burger I was already started loosing my patience.. so I go ahead and tell the guy one more time the problem.. everyone in the restaurant already knew what was going on , everybody knew I just wanted a veggie burger so I can't understand why the workers didn't pay attention what I wanted.. so the guy called who appeared to be the owner and when he came out to me he started talking so rude and disrespectful.. he may seem I was the one with the problem because apparently they didn't understand what I wanted to "except everybody in the dinner room" they knew for sure I just wanted a veggie burger.. so the owner didn't apologize for the mistake he just made it seen that It was all my fault because apparently to him veggie and bacon sounded the same so after a long time of explaining we finally got our veggie burgers, but with no time to eat them because we already had to get back to work... when I started to eat my burger It was super dry with no flavor at all!!! Totally not worth $10 dollars for a burger and for sure not worth the wait time for that kind of burger! For sure never never ever coming back to this place where they treat me like a dumb person.. laugh at my face like if i wasn't there.. and where the owner doesn't care about his customers at all!! Horrible customer service for a 4 start...

Who doesn't like a good burger? B If you do, and you stop here, it'll come with a price.
Around lunch time, a friend of mines suggested burgers. We were in the area of SoCal Bugers and conducted a quick google search for "best burger near me". This place popped up. I read some of the reviews and it as appeared there was a love/hate relationship with this place. People either loved it hated it.
Well... I had a burger on my radar so we went anyway. I ordered the chipotle turkey burger or was it the turkey chipotle burger, lol.
Anyway, a single stack (I'll call it) chipotle turkey burger, fries and a drink. (Let me say this... I was told by a worker that the small fries was really small so I ordered the large. Get the small fries as the large was seriously enough for three people. And the drink came in only one size--a medium styrofoam cup like you'd get at a party, lol. Kinda went old school which is fine by me. No free refills and a medium size styrofoam cup, Hmmm... I was actually surprised since they fill the soda for you.)
OK, back on track. The burger was fantastic. It's kinda hard to mess up a turkey burger but with the flavorful chipotle sauce, and crispy toasted bun, this made for one of the better turkey burgers I've ever had. That says a lot. The fries were great, but it was a HUGE serving that could feed several people.
And now, this kind of explains the love/hate relationship as previously noted by past reviewers of So Cal Burgers.
How much was this turkey burger special? My total amount was over a whopping $21.00. Did you hear that? Over $20.00 for a burger meal. It was a fantastic burger but it was only a turkey burger, not some exotic meat.
Anyway, great turkey burger and tasty fries but no way can I justify the hefty prices. Because of the prices, I'll give it...
