If you ever visit LA, go to THIS King Taco for the BEST Tacos!
Over the past 20 years, I've searched and ate at many different places for Tacos, not only in California nor in the US! This is by far THE BEST place for tacos. (Only in San Diego, or in TJ, Mexico, has it come so very close!)
Ever since 2002, I've always loved their Fried Chimichangas. This was an exclusive item on their campus menu when they used to be at Cal State LA.
However, that old hidden gem no longer exists! 😔 I'm sure that if Google or Yelp Reviews existed back then, it could have saved this place at my old Alma Mater!
Nowadays, my favorite go-to food is their Tacos. With the combination of rojo o verde (Red or Green) salsas, the marinated, cured & seasoned tender meats, on two corn tortillas, you'll have some savory flavors that are meant for drooling!
My favorite choices of meat: Carne Asada Al Pastor Lengua Cabeza Suadero Chicharron
Also, any of their Burritos, Sopes, Nachos, or Quesadillas will be amazing with any combination of these meats. Honestly, try every item on their menu with any type of meat and pick your favorites. All of them are amazing!
Pro Tips For this King Taco spot...
When it's busy: Go to the "3rd cashier line", especially if all windows look open. It is the one on the right corner next to the stoplight from the street. It's the least busy and shortest line, and will bring you up fastest on the pick-up queue for getting your food.
When you order: Be sure to say which type of food "Taco, burrito, etc.", then, type of Meat. They may ask if you want everything on it, which is onions, cilantro and salsa. Always ask for the extra salsa here. I usually go for everything, because these bring out the best flavors! Keep your receipt to go over this when you pick-up your food! If you ordered a drink, wait for the drink first before leaving the Cashier window.
When waiting for pick-up: Always listen for your order! It will come up en Español & in English. They will say this FAST: "Order #", then "Ventana/Window #". Watching everyone getting their order, you'll see this pattern and figure out when your order comes up, especially if you're not well-versed in Spanish.
At the pick-up window: Be sure to check & go over your order at the pick-up window with them. They will tell you your order quickly, so be sure you hear all of your food combinations. Best to keep your Receipt so you'll receive all your food. If you want extra napkins or plates, ask for these at this window! Also, the pick-up window is quite tall, so if you're a bit shorter (I'm 5'4"), be ready to be on...
Read moreI’ve been going to this place since I was a kid, it’s always amazing food without a hit and has never changed! However….tonight I went and everything was fine as usual but for some reason the horchata tasted bad. I figured it was the ice so I went up to the same window from the lady I ordered from and instead of opening her window she just smile and walked away…not knowing another window was open. She could’ve said “I’m sorry the other window is open” instead of ignoring me…when I went to the other window I tell the lady “hey I’m sorry but the horchata tasted bad…I’m not sure if it’s the ice that taste weird or maybe the horchata hasn’t been changed out but it taste bad.” I bought a large she tells me “oh I’m sorry I can’t give you a new one you’d have to pick another flavor”….which is weird considering they had two and a half containers of horchata and I ordered my food at 12:10pm and had never been a problem to my family whenever it had a weird taste… we go back and forward until she rolls her eyes brings a manager I tell the same thing to the manger who was wearing glasses and she tells me the same thing and finally just gives me a new one but not without walking away with an eye roll…I don’t know if it’s a racial thing but I speak Spanish choose English the night of (I was tired) but they were just looking at me and I can tell we’re talking about...
Read moreThe food is great but service is very hit or miss. I constantly have to fight with the preparers on how many salsas I can get. I spend $45-$50 buying lunch for the office for 4 people and I have to fight to get 2 salsas for each person at the office. This past week I tried to order 6 tamales they told me they only had 2 so I said ok I ordered along with 4 sopes. They then called my number and told me that they didn't have any more after waiting for 15 minutes! Then another lady said oh we can make it if you want to wait 10 minutes. So I told them I would wait. They then tried to get me take to take the 4 sopes that were already made while I waited for the 2 tamales. Sorry you guys are making fresh ones for me when my tamales are ready. So I waited 25 minutes because of their incompetence. They no had sense of customer service to give me a drink or something while I waited as an apology. Just grumpy attitude. I used to go there several times a week. I'm cutting it down to 1 max per week. If this continues I'm out. Bad service does not deserve business especially with the economy heading south. It's really out of the way and it's not the only Mexican place around. I've tried to message thru their website nobody ever responds. It's like nobody...
