Crescent Beach Stand powered by Flanders Fish — Restaurant in East Lyme

We're new to the area and were excited to try the Crescent Beach Stand. It's a cute little place right across from the beach and it was a beautiful, sunny day. With friends and our toddler we walked a mile and a half to get there, and arrived at 10:55 AM, hot and hungry. After waiting for a couple of minutes, someone came to the window and rudely said no more breakfast orders would be taken, despite the sign that stated which items were served until 11, and which items were served until 11:30. Nor were they taking lunch orders yet; we were told we could wait across the street at the beach. We kindly begged and said we'd come a long way, and clearly we had a hungry toddler as well, but the server was rude and clearly uninterested in accommodating us. At that point I would have eaten even a piece of toast, but we were given no options, no reason, just "speak to the hand." I guess when you're a busy seasonal restaurant, you don't have to work hard to get customers, and perhaps at the end of the season, you're tired and you just want people to go away, but still, it was a lousy first experience. All reviews prior to this one do not apply to Smoke Shack. Today was the first day that these operators ran the restaurant (prior reviews are for prior operators). We ate there this evening and it was wonderful. The food was ready quickly. We had hamburgers, cheeseburgers and brisket sandwich. They were really good. My kids are picky and they were extremely happy with their dinner. Neighbor's I know ate all three meals there on the first day open.
