The kids and I like this beach for the location and because I got run over by a car and they now have the floater and wheelchair ramp for somebody who has trouble swimming or somebody in a wheelchair who wants to go down to the beach.. Some downsides. It's not very kid friendly. You can not use things in the water or play with things in the sand or play games. Which kids want to do. We have been told to go to another beach if we want to do that, but they don't understand it is hard for me to do that after my accident. It's really for someone who just wants to go down to the beach and do nothing but 🌞. The only thing also is able body people are using the wheelchair ramp and putting their stuff on it at times or getting sand all over it which then makes it hard to get down the ramp. I've had to have the kids remove drinks excetera so it can be used. Being handicapped is hard enough. Today you get one more star from me. In 21 years my boyfriend hasn't been able to swim in water in CT,and definitely not at the beach. Today we got to use the chair they have for people that can't swim. The lifeguards were on point, making sure everything went smoothly and he was safe. He got out of the chair with some help and was able to float in the very water he got into his accident in. What a freeing moment and it was awesome to see the smiles. It's the little things we take for granted. Gosh what an awesome moment. Thanks Niantic beach for having this chair, ramp and allowing everyone to be able to...
Read moreWe recently visited the beach in Niantic with high hopes for a relaxing family day, and while there were definitely some positives, a few things left us quite disappointed.
First of all, the entrance fee felt quite high considering what’s included. For a family visit, the cost adds up quickly, and we honestly expected a bit more value for the price.
What surprised us the most, though, was the strict rule against using flotation devices like puddle jumpers on children—even when parents are actively supervising in the water. As safety-conscious parents, this policy made it stressful to let the little ones enjoy the water. We understand that rules are in place for a reason, but some flexibility or clearer communication about safe alternatives would go a long way.
That said, we really want to highlight that the staff on-site were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were kind in explaining the rules and seemed to genuinely care about guests having a good experience, even if the policies themselves weren’t always easy to navigate.
In the end, it wasn’t the relaxing beach day we had hoped for, but we appreciated the kindness of the staff. With a few policy adjustments, especially for families with young children, this could be a...
Read moreNiantic has made downtown special. It can now compete with other shoreline towns. The beaches are right there behind the stores and restaurants. The are clean. You can come to my town beach. Do you understand how we feel about that? Enjoy them. Remember how nice this is and clean up after you have enjoyed them.
Throw a few crackers behind the crabby arrogant town people so the seagulls will give them reason to have an attitude in such a wonderful place.
The bathrooms are clean and new. Parking ample. Remember town beaches were not always open to the public. We were there because we moved here on purpose. Paid our taxes and reished what we had. Now we can't get there on the weekend. They are more beautiful than ever. Not crowded weekdays early and later. We even have live music.
Pay the fee and don't mind doing it. We do too. Clean...
