Gumdrops & Lollipops Candy & Ice Cream — Restaurant in East Lyme

I have fond memories of this place from years ago, so I’m not sure what happened. Maybe when they added the deck, ice cream shop and concession stand the customer service took a hit? This used to be a place I would always stop at when passing through town for cheap penny candy, and it was such a large and seemingly hole in the wall kind of place. Today I could barely get service at the candy counter because so many tourists and locals were crowding the ice cream stand keeping all the employees busy. I get that that is business and I should be patient, but I could’ve easily walked in and walked out with bags of candy and nobody would have been the wiser as the entire front of the store was unmanned. I had to wait in line at the food stand to even get an employee’s attention so I could finally buy my candy, but even when an employee finally acknowledged me they went to the customer behind me and proceeded to their order. It was just so disorganized and the employees seemed to be serving customers in an order with no real rhyme or reason. When I finally got somebody to ring me out at the candy counter, they again ignored me and took care of the customers that lined up there after I had originally left to find a cashier. It just felt like my business wasn’t important to them, other than the nearly $30 I spent on what amounted to very little candy. Overall was not a pleasant time. Won’t be coming here again. I’ll just buy candy at the gas station like...

I am a business owner for 39 years of a sucessful business, I know how to treat customers and provide value and great customer service. I never leave a negative review but in this case, I feel it's warranted. I went to this store This past Sunday hoping to get a nice treat after a walk, only to be infuriated by the blatent rip off that is Loolipops, We ordered 5 Icecreams, small and regular for 40.00 which is insane to start, They have pictures of what you would like to order, I order a Snickers sunday which is pictured with a full cup slightly over the top with Icecream and topping with carmel sauce, the girl hands me a half filled cup of icecream with a dusting of toppings, and very little swirl of carmel, I was very dissapointed in what was handed to me, I asked the girl to put some Icecream in my cup and I was told no, I would have to pay for more, so I took it in disgust, then while eating it I find a huge hole in the Icecream at the middle of the treat, so I not only got a 1/2 of what I ordered they purposely fill the cup around the perimeter leaving air space hidden, further ripping me off. So if you want to pay way too much for way too little this is the place to go. Whomever owns this place...
