Cafe Sol has moved right up the top of the hill in Niantic, where the antique place used to be, and I love what they have done with the place. You come in, menu on the wall. You order right away, or you can sit down with menus and then come back and order when you are ready. Which is what we did. Great selections. Got the tuna melt, the goddess wrap, and the Cuban sandwich. Sat down and waiting to be served our lunch. This is more like a self-serve. There is water there if you need it or you can buy a drink in the beginning. You get your meal, and then you clean up after yourself. Our lunch was delish.

This place speaks for itself upon walking in. Very friendly, very cozy and very helpful. My sister and I came in today and got two sandwiches each. We both got the bacon egg and cheese (one on multigrain and the other on a bagel). The blue and the East beats west with a soup on the side. We wanted to sample how the food is here. The guy at the counter was very sweet and the food took maybe 15 minutes to come out despite all tables being full. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good time to sit down and have a good meal with someone

I'm only giving this place a poor review purely for service. The food was actually really good. I went with my mom and sister for our first trip to Niantic. This cafe is take-out only, so we went in and got ready to order. There was one person in front of us, one behind, so not super busy. My sister and I got quesadillas - they were delicious. My mom, ordered The Goddess sandwich, which as a staple has avocado on it. There was a sign on the window that we saw AFTER ordering that said "No Avocado :(" , but my mom didn't see it, and it was never mentioned by the cashier when we were ordering. When the sandwiches are being made, a girl from the kitchen comes to my mom and asks if she wants a replacement since they are out of avocado. My mom didn't realize and changed to a different sandwich that wouldn't have it, The Veg. The girl who took our order was lovely and changed the order without charging my mom the extra $2. How nice! However, during our long 25 minute wait for food, other customers came in to order. This time, the cashier announced to them "Just so you know, we are out of avocado today!" and pointed to the sign before they even ordered. I would have been fine to hear that, until she added, while laughing, "Some other customers haven't payed attention to the sign". WOW. At least wait for the customers to leave before you start MOCKING them to other people. The long wait, plus the condescending comments, yeah we...

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch on our way through and we were very disappointed. Their prices are expensive for their portion sizes. I asked for a turkey and cheese with mayo, which wasn’t on the menu, but the girl at the counter said she would charge me for the price of their ham sandwich combo and take some things off it, whatever that was supposed to mean. I asked if they had french fries, she said no. What kind of food establishment doesn’t have fries? When the food came out, I immediately knew it was not what I ordered, but I tried it anyway. It was disgusting. It had tomatoes, lettuce, onions, ham and some unidentifiable substance in the middle, nothing of what I asked for, and it was on a wrap. It was horrendous. All they had for a side was a measly cup of “coleslaw” that shouldn’t even be considered coleslaw. I had to eat a half of my boyfriend’s grilled cheese. The drink selection was not great. On top of it all the bathroom door does not lock which is an...

We stopped here for lunch with our toddler. It was busy and we waited a while for our food. The food was good- Nothing to write home about but was fine. Towards the end, our toddler started playing with other toddlers who were near by. Someone who worked there was very quick to tell us that the kids could not play on the floor, which was fine- fair enough. However, at the end of our meal, I asked our toddler to bring me the little table topper to return to the basket where it belonged, and as she was going to get it, this same person that worked there (who had been standing in the corner grimacing at us) came over and snatched it off the table. My child just stood there in shock. The woman then walked past me making a nasty face as if my child was out of control. My child was just playing around while she was waiting for our food, and looking around, people were smiling watching her. So needless to say, won’t be going back. Geared towards kids or not, we were...
