I grew up in Ocean County NJ in the 80's and ate at the original Mike's on Arnold Ave in Point many times. Later working in Ocean and Monmouth County, I've eaten at every new location as the opened up. I was one of the first to go to the "new" Jackson location in the late 90's because it was close to my new house. But many years ago I moved away to south jersey where there were no Jersey Mike's. It was torture not being able to get my, #8, but whenever I went up north to visit friends and family and had the time or needed lunch or dinner I would be sure to stop at Mike's. That being said, over the years I have eaten at MANY JM locations which leads me to the point of my review. Today my wife and I took our side-by-side riding in the St Clair area and afterwards decided to stop at Mike's, again every chance I get, to grab a sub for the ride home. This turned out to be a terrible decision. This location had HANDS DOWN THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ALMOST 40 YEARS OF EATING AT MIKE'S. I stood on line for OVER 20 MINUTES. Me and my wife were literally the first person off the guy that cuts the bread for 20 minutes and didn't move! There was not a single person behind us for almost the whole time, so it wasn't like the place was busy. Here's what I learned while standing there. This location could care less about the people on line. Their sole focus was on To-Go. Those of us standing on line were an after thought until, and only until, all the orders for To-Go were filled. After the last To-Go order was filled, then and not a minute before, did an extra guy jump on the line and help out those of us standing there. If it's not obvious by now we're huge fans. We're very happy to wait an abnormally long time, and at other times have, but this was completely unacceptable. We walked in at 4:24 and finally escaped at 4:55. HORRIBLE, but mostly, and more importantly, disappointing. As always the sandwich was great, but the service, total fail. So, if you walk in and see a bunch of tickets stuck up on the stainless rack for to-go behind the register, do yourself a huge...
Read moreAfter months of seeing and hearing commercials for Jersey Mike's, on a whim, I did a search to see if there was one in my area. Since I live in a small suburban area, the closest one turned out to be about 30, more give than take, miles from where I live. My wife and I hopped in the truck and off we were to Jersey Mike's. When we got there, the parking lot was packed and the line was almost out the door at 3 in the afternoon. By the time we were able to place our order, I looked around and the line behind us was still to the door. The sandwich is made fresh. The meat and cheese are cut right in front of you, not precut and put in a chill tray, and there's no skimping on the amount of meats and cheeses put on your sandwich. The only things precut are the lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Make sure you look at the online menu for what Jersey Mike's offers. The sub my wife wanted, portabella mushroom and cheese steak, wasn't on the board but she was told they would certainly make it for her exactly the way she wanted it... If Subway is the only place you've been getting subs, Jersey Mike's is going to blow you away! The amount of meats, cheeses, and the usual toppings far exceeds 3 slices of meat and 2 pieces of cheese on a 6" and they don't fold the sandwich in half when they wrap it up. If the franchisee is reading this, you need to consider opening another location in the Shamokin/Sunbury area. I have no doubt that the location would be very well received and very profitable! Jersey Mike's is the place I will certainly return to, just not as frequently as I...
Read moreWhen driving by this location, my fiancee likes to order a GF sub. #11 and then stop and pick up. The first issue is the app. There's no way to order with cash. The second issue is the ability to make a custom sandwich. If you want to add capicola for instance. The next issue is the ability to get charged correctly for extra meat and custom meat. Lastly the person who makes the sandwich and the people inside the store. Upon not being able to order on the app. I stopped in and placed my order. Unfortunately there were 4 employees that did not want to be there. It was 10, maybe 15 mins waiting at the counter for the employee to acknowledge me. He was slicing meat and staring at me occasionally, like is he going to leave yet? Eventually he took my order. Extremely simple sandwich, just meat and cheese and lettuce. On GF bread. I should have gone to Weis for meat. Two slices of ham on a regular roll. I'm not sure what 10.00 means to people these days, but for a lack of sandwich, it is a lot! This is actually my 3rd review of this horrible location. I don't expect an answer or anything to be done about it. I do not even order from here anymore. My fiancee does it because she's infatuated with the Allentown location who makes the best sandwiches in the Mikes franchise. I do find it amazing that Mike's corporate has no training or guidelines for sandwiches. Every location does it differently. Most fail utterly!! When spending 24.00 for a GF large sub, you expect more! Good luck staying open. People only give so many chances before you lose...
