Busy here this morning in East Peoria. Haven't been here in some time. Looks to have been nicely remodeled since we were here last. Nice bright and clean. My wife had a croissant and egg. They sure didn't skimp on the egg! I had a bacon egg and cheese. It can't hold a candle to McDonald's biscuit though. Hardee's used to have the very best biscuits. Not so after they were taken over by Carl's. Biscuits now are over baked, greasy and hard. Not good. I was impressed that we both got our coffee free of charge. Just get back to making biscuits like they should be for crying out loud.
Dropped in this afternoon for a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Sad to say that the burger was dryer than the Sahara desert. Presentation and fries were good as was the Mello Yellow, but the burger was the pits. I was the only one dinning inside and the help must not have been too busy, since they spent a lot of time setting in the booths. Just my observations. Had a biscuit and gravy for $1.99 this morning using a coupon. Also a small senior coffee. Everything was as fantastic as in the past. The employees were friendly and all smiles eventhough they are hard pressed during these hard times.
Update: Stopped in here at Hardee's on my way home from an early morning dental appointment. I'm a big fan of their biscuits and gravy and took the opportunity to slide on in for a taste. Only two employees manning the store! One cook and one manning the counter. Not uncommon these days, but the fortitude of the two employees has to be commended. As busy as they were my order was up and with a smile in a timely fashion. Just had to take the time to give them a...
Read moreI went to this location in mid January around 1am and placed an order for a $5 box meal. They gave me a total of $5 and some change. After getting to the window the girl took a minute but came to the window and said I gave you the wrong amount and it's $6 and some change. I inquired why and she said that it was something to do with being a late night order but she could get a manager if I wanted to speak to her. I said sure. Few minutes go by and she comes back the window with a cordless phone not knowing she was going to call the manager this late and basically said yeah my manager beaid this is the way it is. I got home and sent an email to corporate. Next day I get an email from Tom who is one of the franchise owners from the Midwest and he thinks explained to me the reason why. He stated that it was hard to get third shift help and they had to increase prices for late night orders. I could totally relate and was happy with the with the explanation. He had also copied the district manager in and asked her to send me a couple vouchers for free sandwiches. I've emailed them twice and still have yet to receive the vouchers. Customer service apparently doesn't exist below the owner level. They lost a customer due to lack of...
Read moreOnce a month, I drive through East Peoria and, in the past, have enjoyed great food, service, and a clean atmosphere. NOT SO ANYMORE. The past 3 visits were a debacle. I go inside to order to go because I've learned it's much faster than in drive thru line. 3 months ago I received a completely wrong order, which I didn’t discover until I stopped at the park where I like to eat. I called the shop and they offered to refire the sandwich but I refused because I was already 15 minutes away. The second time, I again went inside, and I was given french fries instead of curly. Both of these visits I chalked up to then being busy. This time, the sandwich and fries were wrong. I wanted sourdough , so instead of fresh sandwich, they just threw the old, small, over fried peice of now cold chicken onto the bread and gave me the wrong fries again. When I pointed it out, they took the fries, dumped them, and dropped curly fries, extending my visit to over 10 minutes. That's all OK, I'm patient, but there was no compensation for these errors. This third time was definitely "the charm". Not only will I not visit again, but I highly recommend to others not to...
