My coworker previously ordered food from here to our job and it was good. We figured that it would be even better in person, so we went for brunch. I’m honestly disappointed with my in person experience. The first thing I noticed is that there’s a 20% gratuity for dining in, regardless of the size of your party. Then we realized that this location (Sylvan rd) doesn’t serve alcohol. We contemplated driving over to the other location, but ultimately decided to stay. It wasn’t busy, at all. There were literally only a few other patrons present, and we weren’t sure how busy the other location might be.
Restaurant experience: Our server was a bit snappy and inattentive until towards the end. I give grace (because LIFE), so when my first drink was wrong when brought out, I didn’t mind. Once I got the correct drink, I asked for a straw and she told me “just a minute,” and proceeded to address the others at the table. As she was about to walk away, I casually reminded her about the straw that I’d asked for and she snappily told me that my straw was coming as she walked away. I was a bit taken aback because of the tone of her response was out of proportion to the situation. My coworkers had gotten straws WITH their beverages. I sat there with a dry mouth. About 20 minutes later, the server returned with the food. She made no mention of my straw. I was reluctant to have to ask again, but I did and she said, “oh,” before producing a straw. I ordered the fish and grits. The fish was overcooked and the grits were salty. 😔 I thought the food would be the saving grace. My coworkers also complained that their grits were over-salted and meat, overcooked. They also had separate grievances with the waitress. For my meal, a beverage, and tip, I paid $40. The likelihood of me returning to this...
Read moreSecond time at Rosie's and each visit has gotten worse. First visit ordered my food and then waited over 40 minutes for my food. When I finally asked one of the workers she picks my order up off the counter and says here you go. Needless to say that my food is cold when I attempted to eat it. First incident was 8/26/2020 and I decided to torture myself again today thinking maybe they had an off day then. 9/28/2020 I arrive at around 10:40 a.m. and order my food. Once again I wait and wait while others get their food and leave. At about 11:35 a.m. I'm once again tired of waiting for food that shouldn't take that long to prepare and I ask the young lady that took my order about my food. Would you guess she does the exact same thing as my first visit. This time I say to her can I have a refund because I'm not paying for cold food again. She then tried to explain to me how it's my fault as I should've either checked the bags myself or repeatedly asked them and shows me a sign that says no refunds. Underneath said sign it states that once you leave the premises all sales are final. I explain to her that this doesn't apply to me because I haven't so much as touched the bag and I'm still here. She asks the manager who initially agrees and says no refunds. I ask to speak to the manager who recalls seeing me sitting right across from the kitchen window for over an hour and sees that I haven't accepted the food and refunds my money. I definitely would have loved to support and recommend this small black owned business but unfortunately this has made me more reluctant about supporting small black owned businesses in the future. Sad to say but I ended up going to waffle house to get my food and it only took...
Read more1st time there for breakfast. But Never again. The hostess were pleasant but the owner and the food is a flat zero. The owner comes through the front door of her very small and quaint establishment walking past all her patrons in very snoodish and very uppity attitude not acknowledging anyone with good morning not even a thank you. As a restaurant owner your etiquette speak volume. When entering into your establishment you always acknowledge the people that are supporting you no matter how small or large. The food is too expensive not to be good. I had chicken wings and waffles. the chicken wings were very salty and and hard had a spoiled taste. When i told the waitess she said they were aware and would fry some new. By the time they came out my waffle was cold so I ask for it to go. My waffle meal was with maple syrup so when ordering this $11.00 waffle I said ok real maple syrup. So i asked for the maple syrup to take for waffle I was giving mrs. Butter worth asked is this maple syrup to the waitress her answer was "yes mrs. Butter worth is" with a pleasant smile. She was young so i took it as she was blissfully unknowable about certain things. So getting home warmed my waffle to eat my newly cooked wings and Mrs. Butter worth which is not the expensive maple syrup which was the reason i choose the waffle meal and the WINGS were EXACTLY the same SALTY TASTE..... THE one star is for...
