Rice Shop — Restaurant in East Rutherford

Today I went to eat lunch at the Rice Shop on Paterson Ave in East Rutherford. I ordered a bowl of won-ton soup, a shrimp noodle, and a main course of shrimp in oyster sauce. The food tasted fine and while I was leaving I was at the register and I could see behind the cashier through the opened curtain and into the small kitchen.What I saw repulsed me, a young man who was trying to remove a cardboard box from the frozen chicken that was inside the box, put it on the floor, chicken side on the floor. And with his dirty black stained sneaker trying to squeeze it between the chicken and cardboard and the floor. As the chicken pieces on the floor were sliding back and forth over the floor I YELLED at him to stop that and the cashier now forgot any English she new and made like it wasn't happening as she tried to pull the curtain back over the doorway.These are filthy people and your food is being treated poorly at best. I will never eat here again and I would advise you not to eat here also. You cannot imagine what they do when no one sees. i reported them to the E.Rutherford health Dept. And the woman there said she would look into it. Who knows, the only way to close such slime holes is to refuse to eat there. Hope this helps in...

*Update - The chicken w/ vegetable was basically bland chicken in bland sauce with 2 pieces of broccoli, a few shreds of carrot, and some chow mein. Terrible, will never order from here again. I ordered from here for lunch (delivery)...ordered fried dumplings and chicken/vegetable lunch meal with white rice. Within minutes of the delivery, first thing I go to eat was the dumplings - they were steamed. I called right away; she tells me they are too busy and she will give me free ones next time. UM. NO. This is my lunch! I understand you're busy, but I'm hungry and it wasn't my screw-up. I asked for credit instead, after putting up a 'fight', she finally agrees to it. So, I go to eat my chicken/vegetables w/ rice and guess what? There's NO RICE. ARE YOU KIDDING? So now I have to call back and she says she's gonna send the delivery guy back w/ my rice and fried dumplings. You are a Chinese food establishment. You rely heavily on take out and delivery. I haven't ordered anything from Rice Shop in approximately 10 years after having moved away but recently I remembered how much that I had always enjoyed their food therefore I decided to give them a call on New Year's Eve because my loved ones and I were absolutely craving some good quality Chinese takeout food in order to commemorate the occasion and to be quite honest everything (aka the Scallion Pancakes, Crispy Honey Chicken, Eggrolls, Orange Chicken, Shrimp Egg Fu Yuang, Beef Fried Rice, Chicken With Pineapple Fried Rice and Wonton Egg Drop Soup) was just as hot, fresh and delicious as I had remembered it being back in the day when I used to live over at good ol' 409 River Renaissance in East Rutherford and would regularly order from here once a week and apparently now I am going to have to start ordering food from here again much more often.
