VERY SHADY CHARGING PRACTICES!! - STAY AWAY!

I have been a local for so long I remember when Vinny D's opened up decades ago here in East Stroudsburg. They always had a well-deserved reputation for great food at good prices. Since then the ownership has changed and it shows!

The last few times I called in an order for pickup, the cost was much higher than what I expected based on the advertised prices. Because my husband picked it up I just shrugged it off as mistaken communication somewhere along the way. Well, yesterday we both went down to pick up and the real story became clear.

When the two $5.50 platters I had ordered rang up at almost $16, I asked the store worker if that was right - I still had their website pulled up from when I ordered and I showed her the advertised price. She answered so quickly I could tell it was a regular occurrence: "No, SWEETHEART, see that's the price for the sandwich, not the platter." I pointed out that it was in fact the price for the platter. She said just as quickly and starting to get angry, "it says on all our menus 'prices subject to change' and that hasn't been updated since the pandemic, see." Well they clearly had managed to put their updated pandemic hours on the website and NOWHERE on the website did it say "prices subject to change." My husband and I were ready to walk out of there without any food, so with a big huff she asked someone higher up behind her and adjusted the price. She made sure to tell me that they wouldn't do this if it happened again and that every menu says "prices subject to change."

I did not mention how this had been happening for years now so I know they've had PLENTY of time to update their menu (that again, had clearly been updated with the pandemic hours). This is clearly their standard operating procedure. Advertise lower prices and hope the customer doesn't notice when you charge them more. Which is SHADY AF!! Shop local, everybody,...

Just moved to the area & Had a craving for breakfast! This is the go to place for a good, fast, affordable breakfast/ lunch selection. Great food!! I ended up calling in an order at 3:30 to be picked up which they didn't mind as long as I got there in time of course. Luckily, living close that wasn't a problem. I did end up getting back home to see that I had asked for salt, pepper, oregano, oil & vinager on my Italian sub. Which, I think they were in a rush since it was alnost closing that they missed it, I did call them since all my things are still packed at the moment & They had no problem with me returning a little after 4 when they close on the weekends to pick up the condiments which they did apologize for. My father used to come here religiously when the previous owners had the place for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. I decided one morning while thinking about him a lot that I'd do the same. Unfortunately it was only okay. The Kaiser roll was very doughy which isn't really traditional for a true bacon, egg, and cheese. meat was kind of off to one side of the sandwich, just built really unevenly. Seems like the attention to detail wasn't really there. Easily fixed by taking apart the sandwich and moving some things around, but they were not particularly busy on this morning and honestly something as simple as a breakfast sandwich if you don't nail the little things, that's problematic.

I'll go back and check out some of their lunch options at some point but I was a bit disappointed...
