Ok, so, I’m not an employee or friend of the owner; apparently there are many trying to rig the rating. From the moment we walked in, there was a sense of carefreeness from all but the customers. The staff were all seemingly inexperienced and interrupted by the existence of customers. The hostess let us stand at the greeting podium for a good three minutes without acknowledgement, not two feet away. She kept leaving and looking for “Emily” or whoever as there must have been a pressing issue beyond that of us waiting to be acknowledged. Then, we sat down. The “new” pretzel was on the menu! I love pretzels! So, I ordered it. The kitchen must alternately be an entry-level culinary school as the pretzel came out hard with salt pretty much everywhere EXCEPT on the pretzel (photo attached). It tasted like it was almost deep fried. Now, I’m sure nobody would do such a thing, but, see for yourself. We also ordered fried mushrooms and wouldn’t you know it, they tasted like the pretzel! Our waitress seemed to be very annoyed at anything to do with regard to waiting on a table. Not a “you’re welcome” to our “thank you’s,” no offer to refill coke or water, not a “thanks for coming in!” All-in-all, I recommend the Birger King down the road or ANYWHERE other than this place.

This writer and partner dined under a pretty ash tree on the outdoor patio in down town, four corners, of East Tawas. We were promptly seated and or waitperson came out shortly to take it drink orders. Drinks were good and nicely priced. We ordered Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and Bolognese with Fettuccine. Both dishes were presented with inch long mushy noodles. The fettuccine sauce was probably canned. The chicken was well flavored. Accompanying both dishes the asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was inedible because of significant toughness and the prosciutto was extremely dry...a garnish at that point. The Bolognese dish was bland. The waitperson mentioned this establishment was noted for it's hamburgers and sandwich wraps. This writer should have listened!

First time at Mr. Jack’s since they remodeled the interior and they did a fantastic job. The service was horrible. Ordered the Build Your Own flatbread with double pepperoni and sausage. It came out with single pepperoni and chorizo. The BYO flatbread comes with up to 3 items for $12.99 and any additional items are .99. The bill had the $12.99 plus two items at .99. The manager had to fix that for the server. We would have sent the flatbread back but our server from the bar area took off and we never saw him for 25 minutes, he had taken on tables in the outside patio and never returned. The brisket sandwich was very tasty and very large. We had to ask the person clearing tables for more ice tea because the server never showed until it was time for our check.

I have to give this place 5 stars.

They are located in beautiful Tawas Bay, Great Lake Huron. They have incredible outside tables for the best place to hang out in the summer time, a very comfortable bar section that has high tables as well, and anything you would dream of ordering. There are two other dining rooms, each with TV's galore, so you are sure to find playing the sporting event of your choice. They have an incredibly complete 6 page menu with everything from soups, salads and sides to seafood, burgers, steaks, wings, pastas and even pizzas (which are awesome by the way) #buildyourown. I asked the bartendress to recommend something and she said "the burgers are to die for." I asked "What's your favorite?" She said "The olive burger." Now I was a bit aprehensive at first, wondering how these flavors might play together. I decided to take a chance and by heavens... The best burger of my life!!! On the hot side there were green olives under the swiss cheese that topped a 1/2 pound patty cooked to absolute perfection (I asked for medium). On the cold side there was a generous slice of red onion, lettuce and tomato. The sauce was an unbelievable concoction of chopped green, black and kalamata olives in a mayo base. Completely filling and overflowing the plate were sweet potato fries and a dipping sauce that compelled me to inquire after the ingredients. (Butter, amaretto and brown sugar,) although I could swear there was a hint of vermont maple. #foodofthegods My second night at Jack'ss (why go anywhere else) I had the black and bleu burger (see pics.) Jack'ss Sports Bar (yes, there are two s's after the apostrophe (why, I know not,) has the friendliest staff of anywhere I have ever been. 5 STARS, all of them earned. BTW, it is friday and I am having the special... all you can eat Alaskan Pollock! How can you go wrong with fish-n-chips at Jack'ss...

Our labor day weekend dining finished with a trip to Jack'ss. Jack'ss used to be a mediocre place to go. More often then not we passed it by. When Jack'ss closed we thought nothing of it honestly. But it reopened and we were biking into town from the State Park and decided to stop in.

Right away the inside was clean. Inviting. Today was a good day. Host staff for a party of 9, outside said it would be just a few moments to get a table together for us. And it was. We were seated promptly outside and it was a nice day to be outside.

Now, I prefer a server who tells it like it is when we ask questions on the menu. Danielle C will tell you honestly if you ask. We really enjoyed her as our waitress !

Our group ordered primarily the steak and cheese sandwiches with onion rings and varieties of Mac and cheese. We were very pleased at the presentation of the items. The Mac and cheese not only was hot. But was creamy and cheesy and delicious ! The steak and cheese sandwich was plentiful. The bread very good. Steak juicy and cheese strings after every bite. Hot and excellant. Onion rings crisp and golden fried !

Nothing was wrong here that I heard from our group ! We all said Jack'ss was worth the trip and we would be back when in town...
