I wanted to love this location as much as the other Amici restaurants because they're great. BUT....1st visit a couple months ago, I ordered the antipasto salad. The lettuce that wasn't slimy was wilted and brown. The salad was to come with garlic bread but none was on my plate. When I asked for the missing bread, I was advised they were out. I requested crackers. Was advised that they don't have them either. The waitress brought me 4 potato chips. The entire staff seemed to be underage girls with no one in charge. Decided to give them a try while waiting for a movie. I ordered the tortellini. It came in a ramekin that should have held a small side salad and the meager sauce tasted as if it was straight from a can.Again, was listed as being served with garlic bread. I found 2 pieces of hard baked, flavorlesspizza dough about the size of my thumb. Definitely not worth 16.00. My husband ordered 12 wings with extra celery. (Our food was delivered by someone other than our waitress.) He recieved 3 little pieces of celery. We never saw our server after she took our order. Even tried to flag her down for tea refills to no avail. Again, no one in charge here. And the same underage staff. Not a good representation of the Amici family. We'll not be back to this location again.
Editing my prior review after one more try We were greeted set at a booth by Courtney. After about 10 mins of watching the server for our section, Will walk past our booth with no acknowledgement of our existence, I was ready to leave. Courtney's section was on the other side of the dining room. She saw my frustration and immediately came and asked if Will had been to see us. We said no he hadn't. She immediately picked up our silverware and menus and asked us to move to her section so she could take care of us. And she did. Very well. The food was served hot, delicious, and the portions were appropriately sized. Courtney kept our tea glasses full and made sure we needed nothing. We were also visited by the manager, Avery and the general manager (I can't recall her name). They both ensured that we had a very great dining experience. If you visit, ask for Courtney....
Read moreWe love the food at Amici’s. It’s almost always great! We usually order to go but tried to have a sit down meal and it seems like it’s never really a great experience. This time was no exception. I had been a waitress for many years and no matter how experienced I was I always wrote down orders. Our waitress did not bother to do so and our daughter did not receive her meal with ours. We were told by management it just got busy. That made us feel like we were lied to because our meals came out a solid 15 minutes before hers. It was obvious the order wasn’t placed to begin with (probably due to forgetting since nothing was written down) and then instead of owning up to that just saying it got busy and wasn’t ready yet. I understand human error and the restaurant business well. Had our waitress been attentive or even bothered to check on us I probably wouldn’t be writing this review. I am very understanding and willing to wait for good food but I found it unprofessional and rude to blow us off. Maybe she assumed we were mad but in reality I was more frustrated that she never bothered to check on us. We saw her to take our order, stopped her for a refil, and saw her at the end of our meal. There were a few things we needed after our food was delivered (by someone else) like napkins since we had the kids in tow, but she never stopped by. Probably will stick to ordering to go...
Read moreWhere to start with this place, 1 this isnt an Amici problem, this is a location problem. I frequent many Amici's love their stuff.
This is a service problem. A party of 8 shouldnt have for dine for 2 hours... That isnt including wait to sit. I understand being busy and not being able to sit people. However maybe you wouldnt have that problem if you served people food faster(Ill get to this more later)
The servers pay no individual attention to their tables, they treat every request like it is a hassel to get it. Want your drink refilled? Better ask Multiple time or it wont happen, pizza doesnt contain the correct toppings... Ohhhh lord watch out. My wife ordered pasta that came out COLD... which means this isnt a Kitchen problem... the servers do not bring thebfood out fast enough.
I also saw a family setting in a table near us, one of the kids knocked a drink over. It was kind of loud, everyone noticed, including a table that was being served food NEXT to the table the spill happened at. Yet no server came to help the family clean up Ice or even drop off napkins, the server looked at the family and rolled her eyes.
I 100% understand service level jobs suck and people have bad days, but that would be ONE person. Not an entire staff.
So if you enjoy Amici's drive to Madison.. youll get there eat and be back...
