I went to this new restaurant a few days ago to check it out with my grandfather. Upon arriving, everything seemed to be going well, and I noticed that we were the only customers there. (Around 2PM) The hostess asked my grandfather and I if we would like to sit at a table or a booth and then kindly walked us over to our booth. Our waitress then came and took our food and drink orders. Everything seemed to be going well. Our food arrived and we began to eat.
Cleanliness: After a few minutes or so I noticed that my shoes began sliding across the floor. Upon looking to see why that would be the case, I noticed there was very dirty water all over the floor under my booth (pictured). This disgusted me as I expect the place I am eating to be clean. I took a look under a few other booths as I was walking to use the restroom and they were also in this condition (also pictured). There were other parts of the restaurant that had crumbs or food on the floor as well, notably by the entrance seating. The mens' restroom was clean. I did also like the style of the chairs/tables/booths. They are modern and look nice.
Food: In addition to this, the food was only okay at best. I had a chicken finger meal with fries and my grandfather had a gyro with chips. My chicken fingers were extremely salty and soggy. My grandfather told me that his gyro was very dry. I give a higher star rating for food however because the fries were genuinely amazing. I loved the seasoning on the fries; definitely some of the best fries I have ever had in my life.
Service: After our waitress brought us our food, that was the last we saw of her. I had to eat a good portion of my meal without a drink as it just sat empty on the table. Never once did she come to check on us or if we needed refills, etc. This shocked me as we were the only table there. After we finished our meals, we sat for around 10-15 minutes waiting for her to give us our check, but she never came. Eventually I had to get up and search around the restaurant for her, only to find her chatting with co-workers. When I asked her for the check, the expression on her face looked as if though she forgot that we were even dining there.
Conclusion: Overall, I think with some improvements this could be a great place to eat, but in its current state I can't recommend it. I will try to eat here again after a while and update my review with my new experience, if it is any different. I am just bewildered at how uninterested the waitress was that we were eating here. I have never in my life had to go on a scavenger hunt in order to receive my check from my waitress or sat with an empty drink for most of my stay at any other restaurant. I hope this place can improve because I think it would be adding a nice variety to the area as there aren't any other Greek...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this Mediterranean restaurant with Indian fusion influences, and it exceeded our expectations! Every dish we tried was vibrant, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared.
The lamb shank biryani was a standout—perfectly tender meat, richly spiced, and served over seasoned rice. The sauce was flavorful without being overpowering (not spicy like traditional biryani!)
The Metropolis gyro wrap and curly fries were delicious. The gyro meat was juicy and well-seasoned, wrapped in soft pita with crisp lettuce and warm veggies.
We also loved the Shwarma platter drizzled in tamarind, tahini and mango sauce. The combination of the warm rice, roasted veggies, tangy sauces, and soft pita was amazing.
Service-wise, we were seated right away for lunch on a Friday, but getting in our drink and food orders took a little longer since it seemed there was only one waitress on staff. We had to ask for refills on pita bread and drinks a number of times but understandable if shirt on staff. That said, once the orders were in, the food came out in about 15 minutes—everything was warm, fresh, and totally worth the wait.
From presentation to taste, everything was spot on. If you’re looking for bold flavor, generous portions, and a unique fusion twist, this place...
Read moreWanted something different. Metropolis Cafe was the choice for lunch. My food missed the mark. The gripe I had is the veggies were quite chunky and didn't blend in with the dish. My food had chunky bell peppers and onions, also cherry tomatoes & broccoli. Other than the onions, these were not in the description of the dish. It's just not my personal preference to be surprised when expecting one thing, then receiving something totally different. Overall 6/10. Give them a try, if you'd like. (what I ordered) Schwarma Platter Grilled marinated chicken in mustard, garlic, vinegar, onions and olive oil. Served with tamarind, Tahiti and...
