My fiancé, our 1 year old, and I had a great experience here this past weekend. We had made a reservation for 5 pm on Saturday night, but for a number of reasons, were running about 30 minutes late. The restaurant accommodated us with no issues. We were casually dressed, and probably would have been a little better suited in business casual. Also, there weren’t many children there, mostly couples and adult families, but they were very hospitable and accommodating for our son. Once we arrived, we were promptly greeted and seated. Due to our young child, we then requested to be moved to the patio where he would have more to observe, and they were happy to relocate the table. Our waitress, although her name is fleeting at the moment, was amazing. (Younger 20’s, slim build, average height, shoulder length brown/blonde highlighted hair). She was knowledgeable about the ingredients in each dish, recommended different options for us and our child, and was prompt with her service. We were in Eau Claire for a get-away birthday trip with our family, and this was definitely the highlight of the weekend. We tried many things on the menu including The Board Game, and Calamari for appetizers, both of which I would highly recommend. For entrees, we got cheese tortellini with Alfredo sauce and chicken for our son, which he loved. Being that we were from out of town, my fiancé and I got a few dishes to sample, including: Traditional Bolognese – authentic, but lacking a little depth in my opinion. Cavatappi with Shrimp – very flavorful, and visually appealing. Sea Scallops with Bourbon Glaze on Risotto – this was amazingly delectable. Cooked perfectly, juicy, and had a full array of flavors. Definitely our favorite that we tried, and what we would order again when we return. For desert we also sampled a variety of dishes: Pistachio Ice Cream – creamy and nutty, this was my fiancé’s favorite. Raspberry Sorbet – tart and refreshing, a perfect way to cleanse the palate. Triple Berry Tarte with Ice Cream – light, flakey, fresh and floral. Overall, our experience at Mona Lisa’s lasted about 2 hours during the “peak” dining hours, but we were very pleased with our service and food. The one down fall was that our server did not bring back our left over Cavatappi or Risotto, both of which we had about half left. Since we had so many dishes, we did not notice this until...
Read moreIn my opinion, if you own an italian resturant, as an owner and a waiting staff, you need to give it the Italian welcoming atmosphere. Italians are very welcoming, boistourous, and full of bienvenidos! Im Italian myself and was very disappointed and thought I wish we would have went to Olive Garden or Dragonettis. The owner was a complete jerk to our party when we got there. Some of our party was late and she wouldn't seat the ones who were on time until everyone got there. We were also supposed to eat outside but she took that away from our party due to some of them being late. Then one of our party asked for a dessert menu while we were eating and she gave that individual a disgusting look, snapped at her stating Ill bring you the dessert menu once their done eating. The food, I will say is good. However, if you are looking for fine dining italian style, this is not your place. Atmosphere from the staff and Owner leaves plenty to be desired. The bartender, with the light blond hair, was the only welcoming person in the place. I have never been this disrespected as a first time customer before and I really dont want to go back. As an owner, if you can't show good customer service to your customers, maybe think about letting the other staff welcome people into the establishment. Go elsewhere if you want an owner who really values the clientelle coming to her establishment; especially if we are paying an 18% extra living wage fee to the location. I couldn't wait to leave and feel sorry for the friendly bartender.
Looks great, creative menu, taste rates about a 4/5. Ambiance: cozy, decorated beautifully. If the staff can adjust how they treat people, it would be an amazing place! I've heard the owner can be great so I hope things get better! I'd...
Read moreIf I could have given this restaraunt 0 stars, I would have. We had a reservation on Saturday night, and that was the only good thing about our Mona Lisa's experience. It was loud, crowded, and the music was not able to be heard over the loud and obnoxious people yelling both at the bar and a 6 top, a few tables away. I was unimpressed, especially for my first time there! We were seated, and then the server came to get our drink order. We asked for drinks then put in an order for an appetizer. It took 30 minutes for the appetizer to get to us. The server, Liam, was obviously " in the weeds " and was given too many tables. The owner, Mrs. Mogenson, was in the room and overseeing a VIP table, a row over, but was too busy to help her server who needed it. She cleared drinks and filled water for them, but could not help fill waters or bus other tables that were waiting for food or their bill. I decided, after looking at the overpriced, and underwhelmingly boring menu, we were not going to have dinner, and that was the last we saw of Liam. He ignored our table, and did not come back. After waiting 25 minutes for our check, I finally went up to him and asked for our with card on hand, so we could leave. Another person was also waiting for the check, and finally we got the attention of Liam. He did apologize, but the damage was done. We saw Mrs. M on the way out, on the phone, while her 2 hostesses stood by impotently doing nothing.... A word of advice, help servers, and let your hostesses answer the phone, because that's THEIR job. We DON'T RECOMMEND this place and WON'T be back. It was RIDICULOUS! IF I could have given a 0 to this place, ...
