Blondie's Doughnuts — Restaurant in Edgewater

Blondie's is a joke. If you are considering working there, DON'T. If you are a customer, I strongly advise you to boycott this new hole in the wall for the following reasons. The owners, Michelle and Hussan, are two very greedy individuals who only care about the money in their own pockets and they have no respect for their employees' time or money. My wife recently worked there for about 2 weeks (after giving up a really good job to work here) before they fired her and a majority of the front end staff because they felt they were being overpaid and that they were making too much in tips. These were good people who were fully trained up and who were providing excellent service. But they decided to fire these individuals with the plan of hiring all new staff and only paying the new staff a waitress wage. This all started when my wife was hired as a shift leader and she was immediately getting complaints from her employees and coworkers about the fact that the owners were keeping their tips, which is illegal. She brought this to the owners' attention and a few days later a majority of the staff was fired including my wife. As of today, almost all of those employees had to file for unemployment. My wife received her first and final paycheck today and they decided not to pay her the approved overtime that she worked and they didnt pay her for the last 2 days that she worked before being let go. On top of that, they only gave her and the other employees that were fired a very small portion of the tips they were owed for the last few weeks. That's right folks, all those tips that you are giving directly to the employes for their hard work and wonderful service is being taken by the owners and then they are only paying out a small portion of those tips to the employees while they keep some of the tips for themselves This was supposed to be a high end female run business with a strong female representation. Instead, the wife is letting her husband take over her dream business and already he is running this place into the ground because he feels the need to act like a drill sergeant while also making very inappropriate comments to some of the female staff ("you look very pretty today" or " maybe you could spend a little more time on your hair and makep before you come in"). They even wasted my time. When they hired my wife, they found out that I was a cabinetmaker. Less than week before their grand opening the cabinetmaker they hired hadn't finished the job yet so they asked me to come in on a Sunday to check out the situation with the hopes that I could finish the work in a few days. I went in and checked it out and came up with a plan with the owners. I went home and spent the rest of the day researching materials and tools needed for the job. The next day I received a text from the owners saying that the original cabinetmaker was going to finish the job and that they didn't need my services. So I basically wasted my day off trying to help these people and got nothing in return. At first I was fine with this but after seeing how they treated my wife and the rest of their staff it made me realize how crooked these owners really are. I hope this business fails and I hope that anyone who buys their donuts will think twice before supporting this new establishment. I'm giving 2 stars because when we went to farmers market, instead of letting people know the doughnuts had been messed up, they let us look at the menu and get our hearts set on the doughnuts we want only to be told they didn't have of them due to the weather knocking over the boxes. It was my first time and I drove a bit to get to fultons farmer market. I was not happy and would have respected them more if they had let us know what they on hand instead of telling us when we got to the front of the line. All they had was snickerdoodle doughnuts and I'm not a fan if snickerdoodle in any format. I came for doughnuts and walked away with doughnut balls,cinnamon rolls and 2 snickerdoodle doughnuts, that didn't taste all that great. I didn't hate the doughnuts, I did hate the service. I don't care for bait and switch. You could have been upfront with the customers and gave them the choice to stay and get what you had or go and come back another time. You would have earned my respect and a new customer. Instead you got this review and my guarantee to not come back again. The doughnut balls were not fresh and there was no cinnamon in the snickerdoodle doughnuts that I did take a bit of and gave the rest away. A waste of time,...

If I could give 10 stars I would!!! I have told everyone I know THEY HAVE THE BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!! I had the smoked brisket sandwich and I was pleasantly surprised with how good the brisket itself was! Smoked to perfection. They also make the sandwich on the best rolls with a hash brown and egg!! Normally I don’t like hash browns, but when I tell you this was a marriage made in heaven! I walked in and was immediately greeted by Blondie. She is gorgeous with a warm and inviting smile and excellent customer service. I met her husband at the Annapolis farmers market. He was a fellow vendor, I watched their product sell out immediately. They were selling sticky buns and they were excellent !!! So when I found out they had spot in Edgewater, I was willing to make the 35 minute drive. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I had the cream cheese donut as well and it was beyond incredible. I’m going there on my birthday this weekend and told everyone, that is all I want! Please visit this beautiful black owned business.
