My boyfriend and I came in at about 1:15. They were almost sold out of everything but had a display case of olives, pasta salads, and fresh pasta. I genuinely wanted some of their pizza or a cannoli or two. I said āorā but I definitely would have settled on cannolis. They were out. And you know what? Iām proud of them for that. I genuinely love that for them. Hated that for us tho. I asked the worker, I think heās the owner, for a small portion of the pasta primavera salad. He gave us the broccoli rabe salad instead, I didnāt correct him. I respect mistakes- mainly- because theyāre supposed to happen. I need to state that, like Kendrick Lamar, Iām the biggest hater. I have self-titled myself as a professional hater. I hate so much that I canāt stand leaving reviews. But for the betterment of the public, I need to leave this one. Go. Donāt just go, schedule your off day around being the first in line. Unless you hate yourself and want to be met by what could be considered disappointment. See, I thought we wouldnāt enjoy the scraps the early birds have left behind, but it was a RUDE awakening. Remember that primavera mistake? He gave us a broccoli rabe salad instead. I genuinely said āfk it,ā and unless youāve been raptured by bitterness gods or are a direct descendant of an Italian immigrant broccoli rabe is extremely hard to enjoy, an acquired taste if you will. To my freaking delight, holy moly, the rapini was cooked so well, or soaked, along side the tomatoes that it was an intricate display of beauty. I could not compliment the owner/chef/family enough. The tomatoes seemed to be of a stewed and/or canned stle, I couldnāt put my finger on it- because the acidity of a tomato was not apparent in this dish, freaking bravo brother. And it came with fresh pasta which, for me at least, has been an ongoing struggle in this community. LORT, I donāt know what their drying or boiling process is, but note that is absolutely pristine and local eateries need to take note. Again, my hatred for ordering fresh pasta is immaculate, in the Karenās if you will. At this point I should work for the state on how much I dislike products. This companyās pasta is unmatched. Those dry frozen packages of pasta in the supermarket have seen their last day of me wobbling to them. Heck, I didnāt think I would like that sh^t either. But I loved it. It granted my soul the happiness and empathy it deserves. We checked out with this beautiful blonde woman, and I was talking cannoli stats with her. Howās it made, what ricotta, etc. I asked her if they used del pastaio, and they did! I was stoked for my next journey there, but ya know what she did. She embarked on a grave journey that is so important for consumers, she gave me a taste. GORL, the delicacy of that ricotta mix will having you either 1). Curse your ancestors in Italy for not being better 2). Curse yourself for not being a better Italian American. Thankfully Iām neither, and just a chubby mixed American who appreciates food, but shame on yāall for not coming up with the recipe first. They must use a powdered sugar instead of grain/regulated because IT WAS SMOOTH. I ate all of the sample but would hope they donāt add chili ate chips in the future. Plain or pistachio would be an absolute DELIGHT. Super loving on this delicatessen, and hope they can bring their brick and mortar outside the realms of the dumps itās in. Thatās not nice to say, but letās be logical. This place deserves all your praise and business. Please visit, my fat a$$ deserves it to be the front runner of south east Volusia hot spots so I can get banging...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat can I say about Gattoās? Everything! Upon first sight we saw the owner slinging fresh dough and talking to customers. These people were so kind, welcoming and deserving of good things. The glass display had so many delicious options we could barely make any decisions. We landed on the chicken pesto pasta salad, the antipasto salad and before he closed the glass doors we spotted a perfectly cooked squash with loads of melty cheese. We wanted to have a taste of everything so with no resistance we ordered a pepperoni pie and a meatball sub. Let me tell you, the pizza was so thin and crusty with the perfect amount of sauce. Now the meatball sub is the goat for-sure. Fresh crusty loaf of bread that was paired with ricotta, sauce, cheese and fresh basil then thrown into the oven to finish toasting. The meatballs had such a delicious flavor. They were massive and the meatballs were so juicy. While waiting the 10 minutes for our freshly baked pie they offered us a slice on the house. This small location is filled with big intentions, and thatās to serve up there family favorites to you and me. I felt like a friend and was treated as such. Do yourself a favor head to Gattoās and treat yourself. You will not be disappointed between the kindness from the staff and the delicious food you could...
