Cracker Barrel was originally founded in 1969 as a singular store in the Nixon Administration off of Interstate 40 by original founder Daniel W. Evins of Tennessee in Lebanon, which by February of 1970 would later become a chain of restaurants adorned with rustic fixtures and homestyle American cooking, in addition to the Old-Fashioned Store that has proven to be similar to an Late 19th Century General Store in the Deep South.
I have always been known to enjoy the rustic decor adorned with photographic images, advertisements, portraits of prominent regional individuals and elements of items that have had much cultural significance from a political, economic and agricultural standpoint that is an element of Americana. Recently, while in the area after having flown in from Denver International Airport into Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on a relatively tiring flight, I proceeded to come here to consume my third round of nutrients here following the flight.
Coming into this respective establishment, the exterior featured more of a general shoebox design oriented directly off of Interstate 95 in Belcamp. Despite the oriental location off of the Interstate, the exterior maintains the specific charm and the prominent rocking chairs that remain prevalent at every Cracker Barrel in the continental United States. In addition, the inside of the establishment featured the gift shop , adorned with an array of culturally unique candies including the Dark Chocolate Mallow Cups and even Hydrox, the original Sandwich Cookie created by Joseph and Jacob Loose of Sunshien Foods in 1908, their own record label produced albums including an Elvis Presley Country Album featuring numerous hits from 1954-1970 written and performed by Elvis Presley in addition to a diversity of Halloween decorations they had up for the upcoming American holiday with Celtic origins.
When I proceeded to enter the restaurant aspect of this respective establishment, I was met with benevolence that was prevalent amongst the servers and quick service present throughout the restaurant, in addition, I managed to get my nutrients rather quick, which also tasted well for usual Cracker Barrel fare, where I ordered the Grilled Chicken Breasts in addition to Steak Fries and Macaroni and Cheese that I proceeded to find perpetual and similar to Red Robin's that I consumed 6 years back, in addition, the presence of decor from Larry Singleton, including portraits of United States Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Grover Cleveland and George Washington, 1950s advertisements for Pop, and other countercultural fixtures and assets of use in addition to the Lincoln Memorial.
Despite my perpetual experience, I proceeded to remove a singular star from the doctrine of the review due to not receiving any Biscuits despite other tables receiving Biscuits, which is what my overweight self would conspire to consume. Either way, if I ever stop by this particular Cracker Barrel again, I will indeed enter with arms wide open for curious...
Read moreMy partner and I attend Cracker Barrel almost on a weekly basis for about 2 years now and today we were eagerly looking forward to our Saturday late lunch date. We order the same thing about every meal, and NEVER have we EVER been this disappointed. My partner orders chocolate chip pancakes all the time. How in the world do you mess up chocolate pancakes??? We come to Cracker Barrel because of their delicious pancakes…why would we spend time and money going to a restaurant when Ms.Butterworth’s pancake mix from the grocery store would have satisfied his tastebuds better. His pancakes tasted like “ every other persons meal” and you can see the burnt particles of food on the pancakes. I will share two pictures showing how sad the pancakes were..and I have plenty of photos from others meals to compare how lackluster they were today. I’m so deeply disappointed and so is he. Not only this…but after our meal we always go take a look around the shop to buy some goodies. Today is one of the first times I can say with confidence we were most certainly profiled for being thieves. Which is SHOCKING…considering we spend our hard earned money every time we attend. At one point there were multiple staff members staring at us. I saw one staff member point at another to put their ear piece on correctly so they can hear and communicate updates about my partner and I. The only two joyful things about our experience today was the very kind and upbeat cashier Deja. She definitely is worthy of praise and I really hope the manager of this Cracker Barrel takes time to give her some recognition for how wonderful her attitude was! Alexius our waiter was very quick to fix the mistake with our order and I greatly appreciate that. I appreciated how cracker barrel is normally able to provide an atmosphere that reminded me of the southern hospitality I so deeply miss … today that was not provided. I never write reviews as I always try my best to be understanding and have an open mind when it comes to food service because I know how unpleasant the experience can be for those in the hospitality business but the way my partner and I were treated today was completely unwarranted considering how often we eat...
Read moreI usually have the Best Hot and Ready Turkey Dinner meal year after year except for this year. I had to wait an hour for my curbside order because my order had not been started when I arrived at my scheduled pick up time. The staff were really apologetic and friendly so I really appreciated that. However, the quality of the food was subpar which is not the norm. The stuffing was hard and dry and there was no gravy on the Turkey. The meal usually comes with Turkey gravy on it and sometimes extra on the side. The mac and cheese was just okay and the biscuits did not look like they were even cooked. They weren't brown at all so perhaps they gave me the wrong ones in error. I was extremely disappointed this time. For the first time, I felt like I made a bad choice getting my family dinner from this restaurant and I wasted my money. Luckily this meal is just for my household of 3 to be eaten on Thanksgiving Eve so it did not impact a huge number of family members. These meals are not inexpensive so I really expected better quality. I understand that the staff may have been trying to get my meal to me as soon as they could however, it should not be at the expense of the taste. Lucky for us, we usually have Thanksgiving elsewhere on the actual Thanksgiving Holiday so this cracker barrel meal is usually something tasty that's an extra treat for us. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this year. I'll probably just throw out the rest of the meal since it's not up to par( no leftovers for us this year). I will mention that the food was hot when it was delivered to be completely fair. I am writing this review so that hopefully the staff can learn from my experience and pay attention to the quality of the food even when rushed so that future customers don't have the same issues that I did. The staff that I interacted with are rated a 5 but the food quality is a 2 so that's why my overall rating is a 3. 😥...
