My family visited the Riverside Pub and Grille tonight (wife and 8 year old son). The first thing we noticed was card tables used for about 1/3 of the inside dining. Classy. We entered with a minimal amount of customers and two young ladies serving as the wait staff. During the time we were there, the number of customers increased quickly until most of the 14 inside and 4-5 outside tables were full. It is impossible for two servers to handle that many tables, and it showed in the quality of service. What was most amazing to us was both servers seemed to be taking care of all the tables, instead of each having half the tables. There were tables around us that were ignored for the first 10 minutes after arrival. It was noticeably chaotic.
The food was average. The crab pretzel was good, but everything else was of average quality, at least for the price of the dishes. Oh, and the pretzels that came with my Philly Steak were stale beyond being edible.
Back to service. I finished my drink (a soda) halfway through the meal. Because of the lack of attention we were receiving, it took nearly 10 minutes for anyone to come close enough to alert them to the emptiness of my glass. It took another 3 minutes until I had my refill. At the end of the meal, we asked for the check, and 14 minutes later finally received it. The best part? Because of the chaotic service, BOTH waitresses brought us a check, one with our discount missing, the other with it showing....written in pen.
We won't be returning, even for the...
Read moreWe absolutely loved this place but it was our server TERRY that really made it special. She was so sweet, funny and very attentive. We always tip 20% and would've tipped more had the tip gone to the server that actually took care of us. As a server/bartender myself, I know how it is to have to split tips with coworkers even when they do not tend to your table (not that she minded whatsoever, it was all me) we wanted to leave a 40% tip because of how wonderful she was but once we heard it would be split between at least 3 people our mind had changed. I wanted to come in at another time and make up for the tip but tip splitting is a regular thing which is very unfortunate to those who do so much more than others, at least that we noticed during our 2.5 hour visit. As for the food, I was a bit disappointed in the crab dip since I found very little crab in the giant serving of dip we received. The cream of crab however was phenomenal but very heavy, so if you plan on having a meal meal, I'd suggest something a bit lighter like the Maryland crab soup. My husband had the Rachel and was very impressed and so was I as it was carved Turkey breast rather than your normal packaged deli meat. I would probably go back but more likely so if they servers whom served their tables recieved the tips rather than split among those who did not. Nothing against the other servers as they seemed very sweet during our very short (1 second) encounters, it was just terry that really stood out and made us want to come...
Read moreFirst off, the service was absolutely pathetic. if we could give it a 0, we would. We all got our appetizers and four of my friends got their food and one had to wait. absolutely shameful. My friend proceeded to ask for the pretzel, then ask again, and then when he asked for a third time, they asked if he even wanted the pretzel. The cheese was hot garbage, wouldn’t feed it to my dog. The cheese had a consistency of Jell-O and wood stand up on its own. it took us an hour and 45 minutes to get our food and it took my friend an hour and 45 minutes to get his appetizer. and his appetizer was better than ours, therefore meaning that they could’ve given us better appetizers. although there was a long wait, the food was edible besides both cheesesteak meals, and my friend said their meals were OK to pretty good. The surface is nonexistent in here and we got lied to about the Wi-Fi password, and the waiter gave us attitude. it was absolutely frigid in the restaurant and they wouldn’t turn up the heat. it’s also a sports bar and there’s one TV in the room where we’re sitting and the music was nonexistent. We couldn’t hear it at all space there was no ice in our picture and we had to beg for it to get refilled. Although we have to give credit or credits due, it was the best picture I’ve ever witnessed in my life, it poured water very well. And the table and chairs were very nice and evenly spaced out, and we’re pretty good for conversations. overall, this place gets two stars, a lot of lows, and...
