Lucky Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Edinburg

This place is a little more hit than miss for me...plus if reading this review keep in mind I usually eat the same plate all the time. I have yet to try their sushi...so I won't opine on it. I will opine only on what I eat obviously.

The one appetizer I always get are their pork egg rolls. This night it came out fresh and hot...the right amount of crisp on it. The sweet and sour sauce is par for the course...I won't say who but there's other places with a slightly better version but still tasty. Sweetness with a little bit of tang...perfect combination.

I always get the shrimp and chicken tempura. This place is hit and miss...this night (maybe because we ate there) the plates came out with a beautiful presentation of the meal. However, they don't always get the same love as that night. The shrimp batter was nicely fried with good consistency... It wasn't falling off. The shrimp and chicken had the perfect cook on it...grab a little bit of avocado and the cream cheese with the shrimp...dynamite

However...ask for it to go? Not so much love...nor attention to detail. The flavors are all there...but the batter was a little less consistent and no attention paid to the presentation.

The place is fairly small...the servers are attentive. And they got rid of their discount if you check in on FB...still a good place to check out every now and then....

DO NOT EAT HERE. Go to Kurai, the prices here might be good but the service is terrible, I found hair in my appetizer. And the Vegetarian option I ordered wasn’t even vegetarian, VEGETARIANS: Do NOT get the Veggie Roll Burrito. They use a CHICKEN EGG ROLL AND DO NOT TELL YOU.

I went on Tuesday 02/13/2024 at 7:30pm and they were slow. The servers were nice and were very attentive. My problem at this location was the quality of food and the front of house cook.

There was hair in my appetizer, and they (not the servers but THE COOK) gave me a hard time when I was explaining the Veggie roll burrito we ordered had meat in it. (Originally I noticed the burrito we received had crab in it, I took it to the counter to explain and the front line cook spoke to me in a condescending tone. I tried multiple times to explain there was crab in the Veggie burrito and he kept telling me the food comes with crab but when pulling out the menu there is no crab in it. After settling it they still served me a “Veggie burrito” with CHICKEN in it. Either out of spite or ignorance of not including this on their menu there is a Chicken Egg Roll used in their Veggie Burrito.

Honestly the push back and the attitude the cook had ruined the entire experience. This place is not worth going to. Spend the extra dollar at a better quality...

Food was good, but waiter was extremely rude. They made an error on my order which was not a big deal. However, the waiter decided to charge me for the substitution that never happened. When I got my receipt, I noticed this and kindly let him know that the substitution never happened. With attitude and a smirk he grabbed the receipt and when he came back, loudly said to me and my 3 colleagues, "There you go, a wholeeee dollar off" and went on to laugh. I explained it isn't the money, its the principle and he just walked off smirking and laughing. I don't know how you train your waiters, but if your waiter is giving receipts to a party while they're still eating and the restaurant is empty, that's a red flag. Second, his sarcastic comment was unwarranted and not appropriate at all especially when its at the restaurants fault for not substituting the cream cheese for avocado (I am lactose intolerant). Definitely won't be coming back along with my colleagues and I hope you, the waiter, sees this review so that you can improve your basic manners.
