The lack of compassion and empathy for other humans is apparent by the 2 girls in the back. I was told that I needed to be more responsible!! I take care of my 21yr old disabled son who has been battling cancer, fighting to live and one of those girls (with nose ring) tells me that I need to be more responsible!! And the other girl was like taking to a fish out of water, no expression on her face whatsoever!!!
I wanted to leave 3 pups that my son's husky had after another dog came into our fenced in yard and violated her! We've been so good about bringing her from the weather when it's hot, we feed her, bath her always going above and beyond. Never letting her out of yard to prevent her having pups. We had to leave to Houston with my son for a 2month stay at the hospital (it would have been more time but my son is tired of going in and out of hospitals [8yrs now] so I was not attentive to our husky because I was physically 300+ miles away. (This is the reason that the 2 girls said I was irresponsible.) I guess to EXTREME animal lover, like these 2 girls, the value of the life of an animal is MORE important than the life of a human being.
This is the reason that people who don't really give 2cenys, go and dump dogs out in the middle of no where. Honest caring people want to do the right thing, but we can't.
Had the other people who that stary dog belongs to actually cared about keeping their dog properly enclosed in their yard, my husky wouldn't have gotten pregnant!! We have already spayed her which was something we always were going to do, but my son's life and his comfort is and always will be more important than a dog's life.
Those 2girls in the last building at Palm Valley are clearly not parents. And don't become moms at least not to human beings.
I still have the 3 dogs... 2 were given away...
Read moreI have adopted two dogs from this organization, and both are wonderful, healthy dogs. One is a German Shepherd mix and the other is a Chihuahua mix. I can’t understand the negative reviews as I have nothing but praise for these people. I’m originally from the Chicago area, and the first thing I noticed when I moved here was the enormous amount of stray animals running the streets. People just letting their animals out the front door to wander the neighborhood, having no regard for the safety of their pet, or their neighbors. People have said it is heartbreaking to go into this shelter, but what is really heartbreaking is seeing countless dogs and cats dead on the side of the roads because they were hit by a car, or seeing a poor little dog starving and being mistreated when all it wants is a meal and a little affection. This is not responsible pet ownership, and should be punishable with, at the very least, a large fine. You want to give a bad review to the very people that do everything they can to help these poor animals? They do the best they can with the resources they have. If more people would understand that allowing their dog or cat to roam freely is not appropriate, maybe the shelter wouldn’t be overcrowded. My dogs are part of my family. They are not allowed to roam, or left outdoors 24 hours a day. They are loved. If you don’t want to treat your animal they way it deserves to be treated, simply do not have one. Until the culture changes, the shelter’s job will be extremely difficult. Animals are not property, they are living breathing beings that deserve respect,...
Read moreAdopted a cat from Palm Valley Animal Center a couple years ago with no problem. Went to adopt a second cat today. Found a cat I liked and decided to adopt. All the people working around the pens where the adoptable animals were excellent, supportive and happy that I decided to adopt. At the front desk the person working there was not as excited to say the least. I asked if I needed to fill out a new adoption form considering I had adopted there in the past was told I had to. She found my previous adoption record and asked about the address change since original adoption. I moved to San Juan a year or so ago permanently. I was asked for my I.D, gave my driver's license which I gave gladly. She couldn't figure out the difference between my physical and mailing address. SHE WAS RUDE AT BEST. I told her I had no reason to lie about my address. She looked like she was "put out" so I told her I could adopt a pet most anywhere and left. I feel sorry for the cat she could of had a GOOD FOREVER HOME if the person made the slightest attempt to work with me. The only reason I gave two stars was the other people who went out of their way to be courteous and kind to me. She ruined their good work. GOOD LUCK if you go there. If that RUDE front desk person is donating her time they are paying...
