Used to be my favorite sit down pizza place. Have probably eaten here over 100 times with no real problems ever until my two most recent visits. The first time my wife and I waited over an hour and a half for our pizza on a decently crowded Saturday evening. This would not have been a problem except there were multiple tables around us who came in well after us who had already gotten their pizzas and finished eating. When we finally asked our server what was taking so long, after about an hour of waiting, she told us she would go check on our pizza. We saw her talking to the pizza maker and it was very obvious our order was never placed. The server then tried to play off the wait time as them being super busy. We talked to a manager and they seconded that sentiment. So we received no discount and were lied to.
Second ridiculous experience happened yesterday. As I stated previously I have eaten at Jo's around 100 times if not more. My wife and I always order an extra large so that we can take half of it home for the next day. When our pizza came out it was most definitely the size of a large. We asked our waitress about it as she was leaving and she agreed with us that it looked too small for an extra large and she was going to "make sure it was entered in properly." She comes back 2-3 minutes later with a manager who proceeds to tell us that is an extra large and it looks like our pizza was "just smushed together." What is funny to me, is that I have been a customer of Jo's for so long I remember when they hired this guy as a waiter at the restaurant.
Moral of the story to me after these two experiences is that Jo's refuses to admit mistakes on their part and then proceeds to insult the intelligence of customers after the fact. Sad day for me but I am definitely going to be choosing to spend my money elsewhere...
Read moreThat’s gonna be a no from me. Two friends said it was bad and overpriced. One friend said it was good. Figured I would take my chances. After eating this, I highly doubt it’s famous.
Let’s start with the good (kinda): The crust is different. It’s flaky and has some crisp to it, almost like a pie. This texture and heft provided some satisfaction. However, this meant it was FILLED with butter and grease, completely orange and oily crust. Very overbearing. Another good thing is that the pepperonis were crispy (the ones on top) and taste good!!
The multiple reasons I won’t return: The pizza isn’t good. I decided on pepperoni because it’s a classic and it’s simple. I order double pepperoni everywhere I go, so I would be able to give it a fair comparison. There was an unGODLY amount of pepperonis on my pizza. I don’t know how they made this thinking any human being would like this pizza with a MOUNTAIN of salty pepperoni. What you see here are the pepperonis I took off the entire pizza, in piles. Then as you can see, you’re still left with a pizza containing excessive pepperonis. What we are left with would have been maybe acceptable, but still a lot. Look at those piles!
No sauce. Absolutely NO sauce. Too much cheese. After a few slices I managed to see what looked like sauce residue under the cheese. But it was hard to distinguish from the GREASE. And the pizza wasn’t hot either.
No sauce, lots of cheese, greasy crust, and piles of pepperonis = big mouth full of salt and grease. That was the flavor of this pizza. Salt and grease. For some, this may be their style for some reason.
Not me. I’m probably going to...
Read moreTonight I dined at Jo's Famous Pizza in Purcell. Usually great pizza. Always has had good food great service. However, tonight I ate there or tried to. Ordered a custom pizza. While waiting on the Pizza. I ate a very good salad. The pizza came. It was so greasy I had to use lots of napkins to soak up the grease. Piled on the table and soaked thru. We had 2 piece of pizza before I thought about eating pizza that was so greasy. Wait person came to ask if I wanted a box. I answered thank you but know. I couldn't eat the pizza. She apologized and walked away. The owner or family member to the owner walked up and asked why I couldn't eat the pizza. I showed him the napkins. He very arrogantly and matter of factly told me they have been making pizza for 50 years. He was about 35 years old. Having had enough of his arrogance I asked him if it ever occurred that they may have made 1 pizza wrong in 50 years. He grabbed my ticket and said I won't let you pay for that pizza. I told him that was not necessary and that I ordered the pizza. He refused my money and walked away to his office. I am tired of Snowflakes getting their feelings hurt and running to hide when challenged. I will no go back to this restaurant in Purcell. I will eat at the one in Edmond. As I said. The pizzas are usually very good. Or that has been my experience. However tonight was not good at all. The arrogant manager does not do well with nice people not complaining. After all he came to me. I was perfectly willing to pay until he got arrogant and snooty. The original Owner was most likely spinning...
