I was with my friend, who is a Mexican American, and was trying to order food over the intercom at the drive through. She has an accent but is easily understood. But when she tried to order, the lady who was taking the order started messing with her, pretending she could not hear her. But the intercom was working just fine for the car before and after us. So after about 3 minutes of both a woman and then a man pretending they could not hear, they told my friend to go to the window. But when she drove up in her very nice 2020 Honda SUV and tried to talk to the man, he shut the window on her and refused to deal with her. She finally had to honk her horn, then he opened the window and she told him she just wanted to order and should not be treated this way... to which he responded by shutting the window in her face again.
But my friend had her mother and teenage son with her and did not want her son to learn to give in to prejudice. He was embarrassed and asked her to just leave, but she refused, used the insults as a teaching moment, and stayed in front of the window until a woman finally opened it about 3 minutes later, and reluctantly took her order once my friend said she would report her if she did not do so.
I am white and sat in the shadows of the backseat, just heartsick. I could not believe these so'called service people would treat someone in such a racist manner. I have often gone to this Jack in a Box and have always been treated with courtesy. It sickens me to think that treatment may have depended less upon good business practices than upon the color of my skin. You can bet I will never do business there again and will tell everyone I know to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs of about 3 weeks ago this store was one of the better stores in the San Diego/El Cajon area. But they now have a shift manager I Think with the name( MARIA) That has NO business in any type of Customer Service, unless your trying to kill the stores Reputation. I made a special order requiring FRESH cooked food, this was not my first time and Never had a issue until about 3-4 weeks ago, I made my order and they knew that I had No issues waiting for my food, and when I asked( MARIA ) if she would relay my order request, she acted like she did not hear me and I know she did. I waited and got Cold food so I asked her Why she didn't relay my request and she said I don't have the time, or didn't have the time to give CUSTOMER SERVICE, That's is her job if That's what they do at a fast food restaurant. other than that the store is usually a very good place to get warm food. I have filled out the receipt many times now and I think someone may have talked to her because she came in after lunch I think and whet off on the lady that took my order, telling her That I was not aloud back in the store, In front of other customers that were waiting. The lady that gave me my order was so Embarrassed she told my she was so sorry. I felt bad for her. Answer---The link I just got is no good. is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday was the first day in a long time since I returned to this Jack in the Box and I was truly affected by a young man who was working both the counter and what appeared in the back too. He appeared so overwhelmed. There were many, many cars at the drive through as well and I could hear the anxiety in the voices of the staff as well. Then I saw this young man go inside a room and it appeared to me, perhaps to release some stress? Then customers started to line up and here I am waiting for my order for quite a while. The mgr had to start waiting on the customers as kept looking at the drive through customers as well as the orders and the cooks. She was most definitely stressed out and taking it out on the customers a bit. Which I am sure it was not her intention. Thank God the customers were not rude. I think we as customers must let our fast food workers know how much they are valued and appreciated. And the CEOS need to value their workers more. This experience was a sad day for me and I hope that they know I appreciate them all which I...
