I've heard so many amazing things about this place and how small airport restaurants are usually always good. I'll break up the review in starred the primary categories, Food, Service, Atmosphere/Ambiance...
Food: this was my first time here and my sister recommended that I try the Sants Fe Melt. I got the sandwich with 50/50 fries and onion rings. The sandwich was delicious. The best was nicely toasted but still not too toasted. The onion rings were bomb, highly recommend them, I do wish they have you more onion rings like the hat does but I'd still get as many as I can haha. Fried were good as well, hard to mess up cried unless they are soggy, otherwise good as well.
Service: We came here as a company paid lunch, as soon as we arrived we were told where we could sit as the waiter was getting us out menus, it was really busy while we were there but we sat immediately with no wait, other people's experience may differ. Food arrived relatively quickly and was fresh. I want to come back and try more on their menu which has a lot of options. Servers were all nice, our drinks were always full and they had a dodger game playing on some of the tvs. I'd come here by myself to enjoy good food and entertainment.
Ambiance/Vibes: Classic diner vibes but in an airport. People were all talking of all walks of life I'd say. Everyone was respectable from what I observed. I really enjoyed the vibe of the place, super relaxed.
I'd say it's worth a visit if you like the classic...
Read moreThe food at this place was delicious. I've never eaten at an airport cafe so I was surprised to find a variety of tempting choices at this type of location. My friend ordered a chile relleno omelette with chile verde on top and home fries and I had the the pancakes with eggs, bacon and sausage. I sampled my friends chile verde and though it had a good flavor the chile needed salt. The home fries were delicious and complimented the omelette nicely. My pancakes were excellent; fluffy, crispy on the edges, and full of flavor. Most places make bad pancakes because it's not their specialty, but the pancakes here will bring me back. I really liked the sausage that came with my food. I want to return to sample additional entrees. At the end we shared a slice of carrot cake with whipped cream. It was delicious and definitely home made. The cream cheese frosting was perfect as was the fresh whipped cream. The only reason I gave it a 4 rating was because they brought my friend flour tortillas that were steam heated and were more raw than cooked, the carrot cake was cold (I like my cake at room temperature) and the chile verde needed salt. The service was great and they came by frequently to see if more coffee was needed or if we needed any additional items. Overall, I will be returning to this location with new customers. The prices were very reasonable. I want...
Read moreRelaxing, multi-generational family-friendly breakfast & lunch diner inside the municipal/private small plane only San Gabriel Valley Airport in El Monte! Generous portion sizes on dishes, allows plate-sharing, & whatever you don't finish, they'll give you to-go boxes upon request! You don't have to own a plane or be a passenger or flight school student to eat here. Free parking, and generally open until 3:00pm, in keeping w/ how breakfast/lunch diners operate. I've been here multiple times bonding w/ family, and even occasionally dining in the outdoor patio area to take in a clear sky day and see small planes & helicopters at work or new pilots and rescue personnel getting up-to-date training! Thank you, Annia's, for being an ideal gathering place for my own extended family bonding over hearty classic American and Mexican breakfast and...
