It’s Boba Time - El Monte — Restaurant in El Monte

I came because I was craving some chewy bobas. I checked on google that there is finally “it’s boba time” in el monte, so i stopped by. I came in around 9:15PM, when I walked in I wasn’t greeted or nothing. No “Hi welcome”. Nobody acknowledged me. I asked “hi are you guys still open?” Since nobody said anything, and nobody answered me. 2 of the workers were just turned their head and stared at me. So i asked if i could place in an order. And one of them finally walked to the front desk.

Granted it was late and they were already starting cleaning their drink station, but never was he washed his hand. When he walked over to the counter after placing his rag that he used to wiped his station, there was no smile at all.

He made me anxious because I felt like he didn’t want me there, but I ordered anyways. While I was ordering, I asked if I could have my drink made with “half sugar”, he didn’t say anything. I asked if I can add “crystal” boba and he said they don’t have it. So i asked if they have any list for their adds-on. Without saying a word he pointed to a print-out on a stand on the counter. There it is “agar boba”.

Before he finalized the order he finally asked “what do you mean by half sugar?” - i was dumbfounded. But i told him, “the sweetness? I just want half of it” Which he replied with “75% or 50%” … … … So i said “50%”.

All the interactions he did - no smile.

Ps: he didn’t wash his hand either after he finished taking my order and started to make my drink.

Drink was $6.50 Agar boba $1.00

I gave 15% tips (that’s the smallest percentage offered). Cause I felt bad since it’s their soft opening and they were already cleaning, but it’s a little disappointing that they seemed like they dont want to work there, even when it’s barely the soft opening.

Pss: the area has a weird smell? Maybe from the bleach/cleaning agent. It wasn’t too strong, but it did give...

When I want something to drink, different than what they have at King Taco, this is a great spot. I could customize one of many drinks. There are 20 popular drinks if you cannot decide. Then you can see why it’s popular. They also have macarons and a few pastries. I’ve been to other Boba Time locations and it does seem very similar. So I could count on consistency when it comes to making the drinks. I have to remember that I like the PB Banana drink. This time I got the brown...

My girlfriend was supposed to work there they trained her for the job but after that they never got back to her. But the couple of times I will go there to get Boba I see a guy he looks like he may be the supervisor and noticed he gives unsettled vibes. I also noticed he only talks to certain authentic people which I believe that might be the reason why my girlfriend didn't get anything...
