From beginning to end, the service was horrible! I walked in with my brother we sat down. Both waitresses, looked at us, did not acknowledge us. I would say after about 10 minutes one waitress came up and asked if we were ready to order I placed my order my waitress wouldn't speak she would just nod. So I assume she got my order, correct. When she brought out the spicy tuna roll which I did not order, I ordered the spicy tuna with mayo. I let her know that's not what I ordered and she just looked at me and wouldn't say anything. I said I want what I ordered and I showed her on the menu she said do you want me to pack this to go, I said no I don't want it that's not what I ordered and on top of that it is extremely sloppy made as you can see in the picture! She asked again that she would pack it to go. She brought over a To-go container and left it at the table. She then brings the item I ordered also sloppy made, as I took the first bite, the tuna inside it was very warm, and I advised her that spicy tuna should not be warm and mushy consistency for it could not be at correct temperature and cause illness. The Tuna was a brown color which is definitely not how it should be! She did not reply she just nodded. I did not see her go back to advise the cook or anything. I did not finish my food. I realized that everyone was getting the same service as me, they did not care much to be attentive. I asked for my tab I was ready to go. I placed $100 bill and I asked her can I please get my change? She just nodded and turned around and went to go clean the tables at that point I was upset I got up and I picked up my ticket went to the front where the kitchen is and asked for my change and I told them how bad their service was. The Cook looked at me. The other waitress looked at me. They did not care to acknowledge they did not say anything, they gave me my change and didn't care. I definitely would never recommend this place to anyone not only did the sushi NOT meet TEMPERATURE standards and texture or colors which could cause illness but the service is beyond...
Read moreCame here a few month ago when indoor dining was starting to slowly regain its traction but decided that it wasn't worth it yet and took my food back home.
This place is actually pretty hard to find as driving on Ramona, most people are either on their way home or on the way to another place, so unless you actually 1. tried looking for 'Ramen in my area' on Google or Yelp, 2. actually look out your window at the right time, than it would be pretty hard to spot this place. I was actually in both scenarios above where I saw Tonkotsu House Ramen one eventful evening and said to myself "I should try this one day" and of course on the day I craved ramen decided to go. Parking is readily available and there is always street parking as this plaza sits on the edge of a neighborhood.
I was unable to see the actual inside of the restaurant itself as that day it seemed they were just getting ready for the reintroduction of indoor dining. They did have outdoor dining so that was an option at the time. The menu was easy to read and quite simple. Theres tons of specials to look at and it seems that there is something free everything in the 'Daily Specials' section in the menu. The prices are decent and quite worth the portions.
For the food I ordered, I ordered the daily special for that day which was Friday. It was a Tonkotsu Ramen with a side of Cheese eggrolls and ordered another Shoyu Ramen. The ramen was great and the broth was nice and flavorful and creamy. The noodles are a bit thinner than most ramen places but was not even close to an issue for me. The Cheese Eggrolls that I got for free was meh but I can really fault it as it was free. The Shoyu Ramen was also just as delicious.
All-in-all I would definitely come back to make use of the Daily Special menu more and try out more of the different kinds of ramen and...
Read moreI am so mad at myself that I didn't take a picture of the ramen and ate most of it before I realized it. The flavoring was really tasty not too salty, the chasu was tender, and the noodles were just right. I had a bite of it before giving my 10 month old some. She's a demanding eater so she wants to be feed right away. So but the time I got to it I thought "man this is going to be soggy and cold" but no! It was still amazingly delicious!
I had ordered some extra noodles on the side but the amount of food they gave us definitely larger than most ramen shop so I didn't need it. I end up giving it to my nephew and he ate it all up! It was like getting 2 bowls for an extra $1.25! My husband had ordered the spicy tonkatsu and it was a bit on the spicy side. Let's say it's spicier than flaming hot Cheetos. 😅 You definitely feel the kick.
Service was wonderful and very friendly. I would say if they added the online waitlist, that would be amazing. I would definitely take my family...
