La Malinche — Restaurant in El Paso

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! They used to be good but apparently not anymore. I was gone for 3 years came back and it’s like this place went down and just doesn’t care anymore. That’s sad!! I ordered green chicken, enchilada breakfast plate, my friend ordered the red beef enchiladas, the beef tasted like it was old and freezer burnt, on top of that it was nothing but grease so when you come out there to eat, just know you’re paying for more fat in grease then you are meat, that was for the red. No for the green the sauce is very clumpy and the chicken was dry like it had been in the fridge for a week and they just heat it up. I had asked to speak to a manager that day. Apparently the managers name is Juset my servers name was Rosa. Rosa had an attitude since the minute we walked in the door, looking for a table to sit. We asked if we seat ourselves, and they said yes. We sat at the table and Rosa area I’m assuming and she didn’t like that. We didn’t get any tostadas with the salsa on the side just salsa and a spoon. I have called a few times to speak to Juset but every time I call, it doesn’t matter what time of day to be early morning midday or late day she is never there. Eh this place was alright. Heard about it through a friend but I wasn't impressed. You start off seating yourself which is fine but the place was so busy that there were no CLEAN tables available. I guess being busy is a good thing for business but I wasn't too crazy about walking around trying to decide which open table had the least amount of dirty dishes on them. Waitress was really busy and it took awhile before we were given our menus, which we weren't in a hurry so no big deal. When she did arrive, she asked for my drink but ran off and never asked for my husband's drink. She did come back after a bit once realized she had forgotten him. She really was pleasant though, obviously was short staffed and a little crazy but she in general was nice. Yeah I wasn't excited about any of the food at all honestly. It was just kind of meh. I honestly have no desire to return sadly. Hopefully it's actually better than what I experienced and maybe I just came on a bad day because people have said this place was good but I was disappointed. This place has great food as it seems pretty authentic, but the service is super terrible if you let them know that you want to speak english to order. Our waitress stared at me when I told her I’m sorry, I don’t speak Spanish very well. She continued to speak in Spanish as she was taking the order for drinks for me and my wife. Then she came back and was speaking g perfect English when she dropped off our drinks as everyone in the back was looking over the counter at us. She came to take our food order and again was speaking Spanish and tried to have an attitude when I said once again that I don’t speak Spanish. I just got up and left because at that point it was really uncomfortable. Obviously this is a border town and it would be helpful to know a little Spanish but come on, how illiterate do you have to be to not remember that this super white guy does not know what you are saying.
