This is an older style Pizza Hut that still has a dining room. I stopped in 530p and decided I'd dine in. The inside is outdated and less than 100% clean. Everything looked like it needed to be scrubbed down and there was a smell of fryer oil in the entire restaurant the second you walked in the door... maybe oil that's overdue to be changed or a hood that's not functioning properly.... perhaps both.
The dining room was empty, no employees or customers visible...so I approached the counter. A young lady appeared from the back.. I was never given a menu, I asked questions and the polite young lady answered as to what they did and didn't have in the way of Sandwich and salad...
I ended up ordering a hot Supremo Sandwich that automatically came with fries (that could not be subbed for anything else). I added a salad with ranch and a diet Pepsi.
The young lady told me to pick any table and sit anywhere. I sat at a booth next to the side door. The booth benches needed to wiped off, as they had crumbs on them. Again, everything looked and felt a little on the grimey side... like it all needed to be wiped down with degreaser.
After a few minutes the "waitress" brought out the drink and salad. The salad was in a to go container and came with 2 room temperature ranch packs meant for dipping wings.
The salad itself looked good, tasted decent and was fairly good size. A big minus, I had to eat it with a "to-go" disposable plastic spork... which isn't really good for anything. Maybe this location no longer had actual silverware... but it definitely detracted from the experience of the salad...
A few minutes later the Sandwich arrived. It looked ok and tasted fine. I've eaten these in the past and enjoyed them very much, as they used to be made with black Forrest ham, hard salami, pepperoni, provolone cheese and creamy Italian dressing, with fresh sliced tomato and fresh lettuce. And when made that way they are excellent...
This Sandwich had ham, cheese, diced tomato and lettuce... if there was more stuff on there I couldn't tell or taste it. I'm not sure if pizza hut changed the way it's made or this location doesn't carry all the ingredients or what. Anyhow, the sandwich was just ok at best, but my goodness, the fries at pizza hut are shockingly good... hot and crispy. I didn't want them and only ate a couple. But who knew pizza hut had such good fries...
When I was finished eating, I had to go back to the counter to pay the bill, which was nearly $17. Overall pretty lackluster. If this is the current state of pizza hut dine in, why not just close the dining room for good, not just here, but across the entire chain. Just focus on carryout and delivery... which is obviously their priority.
Long story short, poor service, sub par food, too expensive, less than clean dining room. I won't return for dine in. By the way, the young lady who brought me my food was doing her best. I believe her primary job was answering the phone and running the register for carryouts, and helping get the delivery drivers in and out the front door (Which she stayed continuously busy doing these things the entire time I was there.) I don't think they even had a waitress on duty. But I appreciate her walking the food over to...
Read moreLet me begin by saying that I generally only leave reviews under two circumstances. The first, and far more common instance is when I have an awful experience. The second is when I have an awesome experience such as I had today. Basically, I I believe in giving credit where credit is due.
You see, today what started as a frustrating experience as a result of a simple oversight ultimately became an exemplary display of social awareness and dazzling customer service.
I have spent nearly a decade teaching business at the post-secondary and graduate level, and experiences like the one I had today are the kinds of experiences I share with my students to supplement their largely theoretical educational framework with real life examples. The situation is as follows :
My sister-in-law ordered pizzas for the divisional playoffs. However, when we got ready to chow down at halftime, we discovered a problem! As the sole Muslim in my family, I often experience the unique conundrum of being someone who LOVES pizza but is essentially unable to partake in the most readily available toppings. In this INSTANCE it seems as though, possibly in transit, some of the toppings from a meat lovers pizza found their way on to my buffalo chicken pizza. If you are familiar with Islam then you know that this is essential this is basically renders the entire Pizza inedible for me. Out of curiosity(and as a bit of an experiment) , I decided to call and explain the situation to someone at the store to see how it would be handled. The gentleman I ended up speaking with, Caleb, despite e being clearly busy, took the time to listen to the details of my debacle and then set out to offer an amenable solution.
Upon arriving at the store after speaking with Caleb he was exceptionally polite and went the extra mile to ensure that I did not feel as though I was inconveniencing him or his colleagues by virtue of my request. We had a brief, yet meaningful conversation as he assured me my pizza would be replaced free of charge and was already in the oven. Again, this was truly a master class in emotional intelligence, leadership, and customer relations.
Thank you so much Caleb for your efforts. Hopefully this review serves to highlight you're outstanding representation of not only yourself but your store today. And if not, rest assured that the story of Caleb will live on in the mines of countless isn't students on their way to...
Read moreHere on a business trip and decided to have a little taste of something familiar. What I got instead was robbed. I ordered a medium pizza, roasted garlic sticks and drink. They didn't have dr pepper, no big, I'll take a root beer, thank you. The nice cashier rang me up and I sat down to wait for my meal. The friendly cashier came back to me and informed me they were out of the roasted garlic sticks and very kindly offered a substitute. You know what, I'm good, I appreciate the offer, but I'll just enjoy my pizza and I'll catch a desert/snack at the gas station no worries. I asked for money back and was told a resounding no. We do not offer refunds. We offered you a substitute and you declined. That is correct I said, you did, but I'm not really feeling a cookie or wings my friend. I appreciate the kindness but it's nothing that I'd like. I'll take my cash and I'll head over to the gas station to grab a little snack. No harm no foul. Again. I was told no to my request for a refund on food I never saw. So, I have no choice? You keep my money? For what? Why? I'm not even upset that you didn't have it and sold it to me anyways. That happens all the time. But to tell me no on getting a refund? That cartoonishly outlandish. Is this how pizza hut treats it's guests in El Paso? Disappointing to say the least. I'll not recommend this business to anyone at all. TLDR: They'll sell you something they don't have, offer you a trade and if you don't want it, it's your fault and they'll...
