We went to Rulis' International Kitchen with some friends that recently moved back to El Paso. It had been on our list for a while, and really enjoyed our visit 👌🏼 Our friends tried two of their brick oven pizzas while we went for the Calzone with some jalapeño to spice it up and the famous pasta Chihuahua (featured in Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) which is linguini tossed with arrachera, queso fresco, and sausage. Honestly, all are great and delicious options 🍕 The place was busy, but not too busy and service was great. We'll definitely be back to try some of their other items ☺️ What we ordered ✨ - Nola Pizza (pepperoni, ham, olives) - Prosciutto Pizza - Calzone w/Jalapeño - Pasta Chihuahua 📍Rulis International Kitchen 4176 N Mesa St, El Paso, TX 79902 #elpaso #elpasotx #rulisinternationalkitchen #dinersdriveinsanddives #elpasohotspots #eptx

Wonderful service!!!! Let me start by saying that we had a surprise gathering there. The person who we were throwing it for showed up super early! We had a reservation so this was not sprung up on them whatsoever. The wait staff was the MVP on pulling this off after our honored guest showed up much earlier than planned. Not only did they have him go around and sit at a table facing their patio, he then proceeded to go outside to the main entrance they distracted him while a couple of our guests walked right in. That’s impeccable service right there. They were still attentive once things got underway and we said “surprise!” The great service didn’t stop the entire time we were all there. Now, the food!!! We ordered the Three P’s crostini. They changed the cheese to manchego so the third P is now an M (I asked) lol. That was light and delicious. The balsamic drizzle really ties it all together with the pears and prosciutto. I had the brisket flautas and let me say….tender, tender, tender meat. The plate itself was so pretty and I felt a little bad digging in but not that bad because the flavors were so good! Even the red salsa they gave me to dip was exactly the perfect heat to round out the flavors. My kids had the pepperoni pizza. We ordered more than one because they’re 10 in. It’s a small pizza but very flavorful and brick oven made to perfection. Many places do have larger burnt spots but not this one. The small places where there was a bit of char was just right. My kids and some of the guests even dug in because it really smelled and tasted that good! My husband had the shrimp nachos. One word, DELICIOUS! That cheese had me drooling and still has me drooling writing this review lol. So good. They do have a blue crab nacho option that I will be going back for next time. One of our guests had a vegan option (not pictured) of the sirloin toreado tacos. My gosh! I’ve never had vegan tacos before but if all vegan food tasted this way, I’d become one! Those flavors are just blew my mind! I wish I had taken a picture to show how pretty they were too, but trust when I say that it was chef’s kiss!!! Overall, Rulies’ International Kitchen was simply amazing in all they did and fed us. We will mostly definitely be back and with super empty stomachs just to eat more of that awesome menu! Highly, Highly, Highly Recommend!!!!

This is the second time I go to this restaurant. My new flame and I came on our first date. I was impressed with the place. One of the dishes is featured on a Food Network program. Some of the dishes are interesting. I have to go back and try other dishes. Update 1-15-23 I have tried the shrimp nachos. That is an interesting appetizer. The shrimp chipotle enchiladas sound interesting but are semi interesting. Pasta Chihuahua is an original creation. I like Calabasas so I tried the Chicken Calabasitas. The word eclectic does not do justice to this restaurant. I need to try other dishes. Update 6-14-23 I had the Chicken Kabob. I enjoyed all the flavors. I think I will go back and try all the dishes. Wife had the Chipotle Shrimp Enchiladas again. She is not adventurous. I think that when you go several times you start noticing the small neglected parts of the restaurant. Exhaust vent in bathroom has not been cleaned. A fan in dinning area is broken. When it rains some windows leak. They just placed towels to absorb water. Update 8-13-23 I tried a new dish I had not seen in any of the menus. The flavor was unique. Thank you for adding something new. Update 6-16-25 Spring/summer Manu has a few new dishes. I tried the Mushu Carnitas. It was an awesome experience. Don't take my word for it. You have to try it yourself.

I had a horrible experience here. The fries were really good but I ordered the steak sandwich and it was disgusting! It was so undercooked that the steak was so rubbery and the steak juices were dripping on the plate, leaving blood-like-stains and it was dripping into the bread! We called the waitress to have the meal remade, keep in mind at least 3 bites were taken, and all she could do was give us attitude and say this is how it’s made. When we asked if we could have it remade, she said they can re-cook the same meat and put it back in the sandwich. This is unheard of. It’s absolutely disgusting to even think about! When we asked why, her reason was that the steak is “too expensive “. Lol you’d think a business would care for the quality of food and would go out of their way to keep a customer, but NOOO. She then went back to sit down and started talking about my family and I with her coworkers while she was eating. They would whisper and look over and make faces at us. When we were fed up with the unprofessionalism and lack of sanitation, we called the waitress and asked who the manager/ owner was. Then she laughed in our faces, and in a sarcastic tone said “my boyfriend is the owner”. It then became clear why the waitress was okay with being this rude and why we had such a horrible service. It happens too many times that my food isn’t cooked to my preference, but never did I ever have my original plate recooked and re-served to me. So unsanitary. So cheap. For all I know, my plate had other customers’ left overs! Needless to say, both, my mom and I left hungry because our requested to have the sandwich...

Second time here, the first time was around the time it opened. Still looks the same inside, albeit more plants. Would think it would've had some updates, but there were none. Same tables, chairs and creaky booths. Atmosphere is nice. Servers were nice. Menu is large and can be overwhelming. Again, chairs and booths could use some more love or renovating. Bathroom looks like it hasn't changed since it was once a fast food place a decade or more ago. No toilet seat covers. Bathroom also looked like it was not checked in a few hours.

Food was tasty, however, portions are very small and overpriced. Had an $18 salad that was served on a small plate, with just a few pieces of grilled chicken (was charged $4 for). Grilled chicken was tasty, but again, the portion was small. Had a few thin slices of apples and a few pieces of cheese, no bread or croutons, nothing complex. Salad was tasty but so small, not worth the price. Side of fries was in a small bowl. The crostini appetizer with prosciutto and pear and manchego cheese was good, but for the price ($8.99) could've been more than its 4 pieces. Boyfriend's salad was missing a key component and had to ask for it and was still asked if we wanted it. And again, for $13, his salad was also very small.

Although the food was good, the portion size does not match the price amount and ended up paying $50 for two small salads, a small side of fries and 4 pieces...
