Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Elgin

Stopped in for lunch. Our white queso was extremely runny and not warm. Salsa was good. Had the chile releno/taco lunch special, the chile releno had meat on top and no cheese inside, tasted good just wasn’t what i expected. The taco was warm and delicious. My daughter got chicken nachos and they weren’t warm, plus had some large pieces of jalapenos cooked in with the chicken which wasn’t great for her. She picked the peppers out and ate it. For lunch we had to wait 45 minutes for our food and our waiter was not great, wouldn’t really listen to what we were saying, like tried to order the queso with our drink order but he left before we could say it. We have eaten here many times and had great experiences but last night it was extremely noisy, we couldn’t hear each other talking, the server was terrible; he got the orders wrong, was in such a rush that he threw the food down on the table, when he refill the drinks he sloshed it in the glasses splashing all over the table; I ordered the shrimp and tilapia, shrimp was good but the tilapia was way over cooked to the point that you couldn’t cut it and had to pick it up like a piece of jerky to bite it. Definitely a hidden gem! We stopped here for lunch. No wait. We're seated immediately and chips and salsa and beverages quickly followed. We ordered from the lunch menu. Lots of choices. I got the two fried tacos with rice and beans and my husband got the taco/enchilada with rice. There is a complimentary sopapilla at the end.
