Stopped in here for lunch since I'm new to the area and have been systematically checking out the local cuisine. Let's be fair: I was apprehensive about finding a decent Chinese/Asian food restaurant in a town as small as Elizabeth, but upon recommendation by some long residing locals I decided to give it a shot.
I walked in not knowing what to expect. At just a mere 6 tables I had to wait for current customers to finish their meal before I could sit. Sure, a woman was taking up a four person table by herself and I could have asked to sit with her since she appeared to not have received her food yet, but I just kind of wanted to eat alone, so I waited.
Luckily for me my wait wasn't long. A couple finished their meal and offered me their two-person table which I took once it was wiped down and made ready.
I'm told the same lady that served me (and the entire room) is also the owner, but I didn't ask so I can't confirm. Regardless, she was extremely attentive even though the place was packed.
My go-to meal at Chinese restaurants is generally orange chicken. It's the one dish I try first at every new restaurant as a litmus test of the flavors and food and so, even though it was suggested by another guest that I try the "Happy Family" lunch special I ordered the orange chicken meal. As a lunch time special it came with choice of soup (egg drop / hot and sour) and an eggroll.
The soup came first, as it usually does, and it was hot. Not temperature-hot, but spicy-hot. So spicy, in fact, I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish it. (NOTE: I"m a notorious weenie when it comes to spicy foods so take my statement about the soup with a grain of salt.)
The server/owner let me know the food was going to take a minute to make and asked me if I was in a hurry. Fortunately, I was not and there was no rush.
Not much longer later she brought me a plate filled with breaded chicken in orange sauce, fried rice and an eggroll on the side. And it was delicious.
The orange sauce had a strong, but not overpowering, citrus flavor; the chicken tasted fresh, not frozen and flash fried; and the rice was just the right amount of fried without being oily or overly cooked.
Maybe I was lucky and caught the restaurant on a good day or maybe this is the standard they keep. Either way, I'll be back to try...
Read moreAll the good reviews are spot on. This place (although small) if fantastic. I got the Asian dinner with curry beef, fried rice, egg roll, hot and sour soup and fried wantan. $12 bucks!! The amount of curry beef I got was enough for 3 people alone. Not knowing how much food I was going to be getting, I also ordered 1 order of my favorite chicken chowmein. I had enough food in front of me to feed a family and was only $21. And taste.... OMG!! The food was for lack of a better word AMAZING!!. Everything was cooked perfectly. And further more, I happen to believe it was made with magic. I was suffering from a pretty horrible head cold. It was like day 3 of this horrible thing and normally they last up to 7 or 10 days. After having the hot and sour soup and the curry, the very next day I was 70% better than I was when I went in. Then just kept getting better with in the 7 days it normally takes just to feel better. So needless to say, this place I'd highly recommended by myself and from what read, a lot of other people. If you're in the area, it's a great place to have some excellent Asian food. If there is a wait, it's more than worth waiting for. Also they get food out...
Read moreWhen we first went here around two years ago they actually had good food. It wasn’t bad, wasn’t the best Asian food but it was pretty good. It’s been steadily declining since then and we haven’t been back. The food is absolutely disgusting and tastes like it was heated up in the microwave, nothing tastes fresh. Some stuff came frozen and the smell coming from the soup was rancid.. I wouldn’t ingest any of their food or beverages here, I can’t imagine they clean much of anything back there as the front of the house is a little nasty. The chicken is hard and chewy, hard to completely chew something let alone swallow. I’m surprised they’re still open if I’m being quite honest, my family absolutely loves Asian food and this place was a disgrace to Asian food. As much as we’d prefer to stay here when we want Chinese food we go to Parker or Aurora. The tables are horrible, they were always sticky every time we went. The decor is a little drab and so is the music.. I would not recommend coming here you’ll...
