Chupitos — Restaurant in Elizabeth

I need to really start going with my instincts. I read all the bad reviews but I still wanted to give them a try. First off from the outside the place looks like a club in Miami, it’s huge it’s flashy and then when you walk in it’s a 4 x 4 and old looking inside. We had reservations for two people at 9pm. We walk in sit down at a table and the host immediately comes to us telling us at 9:30 you have to get up and go to the bar because if you stay here you have to buy a bottle. Mind you the place is totally empty there’s maybe 6 ppl in there that includes staff. The kitchen was empty with no chef and no one was cooking so that was another red flag. My friend asks the hostess if we order food and we’re still eating by 930 do we have to get up and she said yes and she had a major attitude and was super RUDE. I told her that my reservation never said that I had to buy a bottle after 9:30. She then proceeded to say that the entire area was for bottle service only (that was the entire bar!) There are no chairs at the bar so we would have to stand the entire time eating our food and drinks. Thank God I made another reservation right across the street at The Garden! We walked in we were served right away the ambience was great the food was amazing and the music was good too. Please be very wary of this place and DO NOT do what we did, read the reviews! This establishment should be ashamed of themselves not offering a table for people who just want to have a few drinks is unbelievable. BE AWARE!!!! DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE!! I have been to this place twice in the last month and gave it more than enough chances before doing this review, so here we are.

The food here is horrible and I mean horrible, I was here on a regular Friday night at 9 pm before the busy hours and there were only 2 other tables, we order a couple appetizers and main courses, then 20 minutes later the waitress comes over to informed us that the dishes we order were sold out. Then we order something else, tacos and Guacamole and tostones. Then almost an HOUR LATER we received a very tiny plastic container with the most horrible Guacamole I have ever tasted. Also the Tacos, how do mess up Tacos!!!! The tacos were pulled chicken tacos but as soon as I took my first bite I found a bunch of bones like inside the tacos. I almost choke with one of them I took a look at all of the other tacos and all of them were the same, I told the waitress and told her I was not going to eat them and she didn't even care and also charge me for the Tacos.

Then on our second visit we were going to watch a final of a soccer game tournament and the DJ didn't have the TV output connected to the audio system so the first 10 minutes of the game were in silence and very awkward silence, then we notice a table next to us ordering a fried sampler (PICADA) which took over 2 hours to get to them. This time we were smarter and didn't order food.

Long story short:

FOOD IS DISGUSTING FOOD TAKES 2 TO 3 HOURS SERVICE IS SUPER SLOW.

This place isn’t what it used to be. It seems like it is under new management because this place is horrible because of its lack of professionalism. After ID check, a server comes out to greet us, she continues by asking me and the group of people I was accompanied with, if we’d like to sit at the bar or get a table. Kindly, I told her to give me a minute so I could ask the people I was with what they’d like. She became so impatient as if the place was busy when it clearly wasn’t (on a Saturday night). She left and came back with what seems to be the manager, he basically hands me the menu and tells me to order a bottle and that would depend where we can sit. I tell him.. “we’re going to consume a bottle of the worth of the table so why can’t we sit and order once we’re sitting?” He clearly didn’t understand how uncomfortable it was to order while standing. After that, I honestly just wanted to leave. But, it was a friends birthday and he wanted to be there. But this place is completely unprofessional and is completely money hungry. For a table the minimum consumption is $350. Asking a lot for a mediocre place with bad service.
