We stopped in for a quick bite on our way into Tennessee. We could tell they were busy and were unsure if we were meant to seat ourselves. My husband grabbed a table and we waited for a few minutes. He asked a passing waitress if we could have a towel so he could clean the table, trying to be helpful as they were clearly busy and our son felt uncomfortable sitting at the dirty table. My husband was very polite and was only trying to help, he was told to wait for the waitress. When the waitress came, she began cleaning the table, but in a way that was pushing food and debris onto our laps (our son's as well, who has certain sensory aversions). Again, trying to help and being very polite, my husband offered to help her as she was struggling to clean the full table from where she stood behind the counter. I said we wouldn't mind helping, and pointed out food was flying everywhere as she wiped the table down. She was very passive aggressive and in a rude tone said we wouldn't have had this problem if we had waited to be seated. I apologized and told her I didn't realize that's what we were meant to do. My son even thanked her for cleaning the table, and she ignored him. She continued exhibiting an attitude and walked off, with the table/napkin holder still dirty/sticky (the napkins inside the holder itself were soaked in syrup and unusable). My son asked us what we did to upset her and why she was in such a bad mad, at that point my husband and I decided to go elsewhere. At no point did we yell, raise our voices, or show any disrespect. As we were leaving, she called out "My name is Emily, by the way," and told others in the area we were mad because the table was dirty. We weren't, we were upset at the rude ways in which she interacted with us. We understand things get busy and people feel stressed, but that's no excuse to treat people poorly. We stopped at a different WH on the way, one as equally as busy on Mother's Day, and had an excellent experience were we were treated with basic kindness...
Read moreI have NEVER been to a Waffle House with the type of service and food quality as poor as I just received. Barb our waitress started off good, but when we expressed dislike in the qulaity of food, her attitude was a reflection of shift manager January. I literally picked up my grits with my hand and a clump was shown to her and not only did she verablly AND agrressively mention my complaint to January and the other cook. Instead of January coming to us, she yeilled from the cooking area as to how the grits were fresh. And said if we wanted fresh grits it would take 25 mins. Which we know it doesnt take that long because I expressed to my son how the male cook was cooking grits as we were sitting down. Then my son began to stir his grits and again a large clump of OLD grits was pulled from his bowl. I handed the clump to Barb and asked her to show the cook, which she didnt. Then January the shift manager we found out later stated, those grits were fresh we made them 2 hrs ago!!!! As a SeveSafe Instructor for the United States Government. If this was my facility to be inspected, I would shut it down. The customer services was aweful and the food was worse.... I WILL NEVER RETURN AND I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE I LOVE.... Corporate needs to address this NOW. Addressing food quality, holding time and temperatures and preservation, Customer service and...
Read moreI know it’s just the Waffle House but they could do better. We pulled up around 1:30am to eat something breakfast. The cook and waiter were sitting outside (one of them was actively smoking). When they saw us pull up the cook immediately went inside to thoroughly wash his hands. As we walked in there was a table that clearly needed to be cleared from some previous customers. The waiter came in behind us and immediately began to take our drink orders while we were walking. We expected him to wash his hands prior to touching anything. He brought our drink orders and attempted to take our order. Instead of placing our order we asked for him to wash his hands. He said okay and started writing down in his order pad. What he was writing, we have no idea. We hadn’t place an order at all. We decided to just go ahead and leave. We didn’t touch nor drink anything but we were charged $5.00 for the untouched sweet tea. Won’t be returning nor...
