My wife and I arrived during the week of the Fourth of July. Our first two nights were pleasant. The room was clean. The facilities were nice. The staff was nice. Our subsequent two nights were not so good. There were quite a number of little league baseball team members and parents. The children went up and down the halls with many of them unsupervised by an adult. They loudly played in the halls with balls and other toys. While this was going on, adults sat at the entrances drinking beer and talking loudly. The breakfast they offered was quite good for the price, but I missed one morning because there were just too many people in the dining area- children were everywhere. I went back several times to see if the crowd dispersed, but they never did. I had to eat elsewhere. I solved that problem on the next mornings by arising very early and beating the crowd. The night of Friday, July 7, 2017, the people in the room above our room stomped and ran all over their room. My wife and I watched television with quite a racket above us by turning the sound up higher, but when we decided to go to sleep just after 11:00 P.M.I took my shoe and tapped the ceiling to remind them people were below. They must have thought it was a game rather than a reminder that someone was below them because they took to hammering the floor harder. I called the front desk, and the lady on duty said she would call security. I gave the security time to take care of the matter, and the noise not abating, I called again. Again, she said she would call security. After several minutes, the noise did quiet down, but it didn't stop much. I fell asleep from near exhaustion, but my wife said the noise went on after 1:00 A.M. The next night, July 8, 2017, the same thing happened when we returned to our rooms only it was a lot worse. Quite a number of adults were congregated at the entrances drinking beer and loudly visiting. When we got to our rooms, the same stomping was taking place above us. It was like cattle were running on the floor above us. I called the front desk, and the woman on duty said she would call security. Ten minutes later and the noise continuing, I called again. I told the woman that if I had to call again I would need to know the name of the owner. She told me that the only person I could call was the manager at the front desk. I assured her that I would find the name of the owner and would let them know of what was happening. She told me that she knew the young baseball players were loud, but there was nothing she could do other than send security to give them a warning. She said that I may be being overly-sensitive to the noise. I told her that I had children and knew they made noise, but the noise above us was way beyond acceptable. We ended the conversation, but about two minutes later she called me back and told me that security would give them a warning that might lead to their removal. A few minutes later, the noise ended. When we checked out the following morning, the woman remembered us and apologized for the noise. She said that she would like to give us a discount, but she had been instructed to charge us the price we were to pay. My wife found the woman very rude. I told her we only wanted a quiet place to sleep. The room was nice enough for the price, the food was nice for the price, and the ambiance of the place was nice before the arrival of the baseball teams. There are quite a number of other hotels within a hundred yards; I think I'd book one of those during the baseball team visits. I had four siblings staying in these hotels a stone's throw away; they had no such problems. I will be in Elizabethtown again- probably quite a few more times in the coming years, but I won't be staying at...
Read moreEdited for 2nd stay: Service was ok, very slow for everything. Slow check in process, had multiple people waiting to check in all day and night it seemed. Two people running it but the process seemed to be outdated and slow. Doubt it was the fault of the workers. Had to wait around 5 minutes for eggs at 8:40 in the morning and was told they shut down in 15 minutes after bringing them out. Only had a few pieces of sausage left, one hard boiled egg, the bakery items were all but gone, there were about 10 biscuits left and people still coming in. If you say open til 9am then you supply food until 9am, then no more comes out. You don't run out of everything 20+ minutes before it's over. My last stay here i rated the breakfast as my 2nd best ever. Now it's not even ranked. Room was outdated like last year and this room seemed to be aged a little more than the other. Bathrooms need updating however the room 2 doors down had a larger updated bathroom even though we paid the exact same price as they did. Not sure why one is but the other isn't.
The breakfast issue really made me change my review as for me it's sometimes a deciding factor on where I stay. At 9:45 on our check out day, housekeeping knocks on the door and before I can even speak, one second later is opening our door. Luckily it wasn't an issue like one of us getting out of the shower. There's no DND to hang on the doors and again check out isn't til 11. I'm guessing a change in management or ownership may of happened and maybe that's the reason behind the negative changes I experienced. Things need to be fixed before I'd choose this place again as our first option.
Location still great and beds still comfy. Room was adequately cleaned.
2024 stay: Great stay for a busy weekend when everywhere was booked. Priced fair. Smaller hotel that seemed to be a place that people stay at for more than a few nights. Nice clean rooms with very comfortable queen beds. The staff working were all very very nice and took care of everything that we needed. 5 stars for the staff. Location was perfect for us. Restaurants nearby to walk to. The rooms were a nice but the bathrooms were a little dated which I didn't mind in the least. We had a big jacuzzi style tub / shower combo. Older toilets and sinks. Again not a big deal for a weekend stay. Breakfast was top notch and included. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy made my second best ever free hotel breakfast. Second to my number one only bc I prefer bacon to sausage. Very good though. Had everything else like waffle makers and the usual. Pool and atrium area was pretty cool and seemed to be a hit with all the kids in town for soccer and other sports. And the icing on the cake was winning a few hundred bucks on the 2 video poker...
Read moreTruly just an overall collapse of management and systems. First, when I went to check in, they couldn't figure out what room I was in...it turned out that another family member had already checked me in and initially I was charged for another room, but they did refund that once we figured out my room had already been paid for...that's about where the good things ended.
Our family had booked the conference room for a family get-together (approximately 22 people) only to be informed upon arrival that the hotel had double booked the conference room and that our group would have to move our event to the pool area. I was concerned it would be humid and not exactly and environment for a dinner and socializing, but it ended up being alright. There were signs on the doors that said there was a private event in the space from 5:30-10:30 p.m. However, a couple of hours into our event, the front desk employee came in and apologized, but a mother had booked a birthday party for her 9 year old daughter and asked if we would be ok if they came in to swim while we were having our event. Obviously, we weren't going to ruin a 9 year old girl's birthday. The poor mother was distraught over the situation thinking that her daughter's party had been ruined. The girls were fine and they had fun, but the hotel management continued to allow people into the pool area and it became a free-for-all. When our group went to ask management to ask the people not with the birthday party to leave, they allowed them to stay until 10:30...essentially meaning that our event had ZERO privacy for the duration. Just a full failure of the systems and the management of the hotel to allow this to happen.
The rooms were alright...comfortable beds and plenty of space, however, the batteries in the remotes were dead (thankfully, since we were celebrating our family Christmas, we brought along spare batteries), there was a large crack in the door that allowed light and sound in, and the room smelled of cigarette smoke (even though it was a nonsmoking room). The hallway smelled of marijuana and it seemed like the security of the building was pretty lax, with multiple people entering and exiting from a side door near the laundry area.
To top it all off...at least one of our family members came home to red bumps all over her body...most likely bed bugs. Another family member found mouse droppings in their room. Thankfully, we didn't have any issues like that in our room, but just overall, not the experience we were hoping for and our family will look to take our gathering elsewhere...
