I have to tell you, I don’t venture too often to Elk city Oklahoma or that area. With that said, I was relieved to find this little jewel of a Mexican restaurant. It’s conveniently located right across the street from the Elk City Holiday Inn Express (A clean and efficient place to stay for overnight business trips).
Pros: Wonderful chips. Not too thick not too thin and a very good flavor salsa is wonderful, and they provide a very generous portion of salsa Also had their guacamole, which was also very good. I had their chicken soup. This seems to be a Spanish version of a traditional chicken soup. It’s extremely hearty and very very good. Generous portions of food, very fresh and tasty.
Cons: The margarita I had really wasn’t that good. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had much better at numerous other Mexican restaurants I’ve eaten that. I didn’t bring it to the tension of the waiter, because I don’t roll that way. Nor did I hold it against him because he was a good man, And I will have a margarita again when I return. Maybe it was just an off night for the bartender.
In closing, if I find myself in elk city, you can bet that I will be eating here as much...
Read moreFrom the first time I ate here I was hooked on the shredded chicken they offer as a choice in enchiladas, chimichangas, nachos, etc. So all dozen or so times I've been back, I always order something that contains the shredded chicken. It and the cheese sauce are outstanding.
I read others' critiques of the service, but I have not found it to be bad at all, especially considering how busy the place gets during peak. Those servers typically have their hands full, and in my experiences here, they do a great job. Management comes across as genuinely friendly and interested. And, unlike so many restaurants these days, management DOES come by the table to inquire, offer a drink refill, etc.
I've dined at numerous restaurants with menu prices quadruple those of El Patio where no member of management was to be seen. The management and staff at El Patio are engaged with their customers and product. They make you feel welcome and treat you as a guest in an age where so many restaurants are the same insofar as treating the customer almost as an unwanted nuisance or just another one of the herd, as they herd us through their dining room conveyor belt and...
Read moreI was shocked to learn that when our chips & salsa was brought to our table prior to ordering, there was NO queso with it . When I asked about it (like I know many other customers have ) I was told that I have to buy it. What? I have NEVER in my LIFE been to a Mexican restaurant where they don't serve SALSA & QUESO with the chips & I've been to MANY restaurants. So for $7 I had to buy it 🤔 We also had to try & "catch" the waitress several times. (No they were not busy, this was on a Monday) We had to ASK for more chips & ASK for drink refills. I was NOT impressed with the cheese enchiladas at all. The tortilla was hard on the ends & not fresh .The cheese was hard (which are my favorite & that's what I order at EVERY Mexican restaurant I go to) After dining in some of the best Mexican restaurants: Las Vegas, Arizona, Okc/Clinton/Lawton/Frederick Oklahoma , this one rates at the BOTTOM overall. I was hoping for a better experience & better food .I...
