Sweetest stop in Prospect, Illinois! 🍦😊🍫
We absolutely loved our visit to Cap’s Ice Cream. A charming, family-owned gem that’s been serving up smiles for 25 years (Happy Anniversary this past Saturday 6/20/2025! 🎉). Whether you’re just passing through or a local looking for a sweet treat, this is a must-stop in Mt. Prospect!
The shop itself is adorable. Quaint and cozy with a welcoming porch and a peaceful garden area where you can relax and enjoy your ice cream. Such a perfect setting for a sunny afternoon or an evening sunset! ☀️🍨
Victoria helped us and was so friendly and kind. She made our visit even sweeter! She recommended the Black Raspberry Chip and Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, and WOW… both were incredible! Rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. You can tell their ice cream is truly homemade with love. 💕
They have a huge variety of flavors, so there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a classic vanilla fan or a flavor adventurer, Cap’s has you covered.
Highly recommend stopping by this little slice of ice cream heaven next time you’re in or near Prospect, Illinois!

Read moreThis is a really cute place with good ice cream. The cashier was really rude however. I was getting ice-cream for myself and my toddler so I ordered her a kiddie scoop in a sprinkle waffle cone. The person making the cone did give her a good size scoop but I didn't think anything of it besides that he was being generous, this was also my first time here so I don't know the normal sizes they give. I went up to pay and the girl at the register asked what I ordered, when I told her she accused me of lying (why I'd lie to save a dollar vs just not getting the waffle cone I'm not sure). She insisted it didn't look like a kiddie size and looks like a small. When I told her that's what I told him she just silently rang my order, then tried to ask how my day was but she already put a damper on my day. Overall the ice cream was good, the people scooping were nice and kept the line moving. There's also a park right outside with benches and good shade to sit and eat. I suggest if they aren't trusting of the customers, either have people pay first and then they can scoop or have the person scooping tell the cashier the order. But accusing people of lying is not a way to...
Read moreIce cream is good with a bunch of flavors to choose from. I had Rocky road and it was very chocolatey but didn't seem to have as much marshmallows and nuts in it, but was still enjoyable.
Parking is difficult if you need to park nearby, but there's more spaces a block southeast nearby the Condo complex there.
Indoors is not great for eating your ice cream and discussing things, but you can hang out outside with plenty of chairs, benches, and a nice gazebo towards the back
Service is where the rating suffers. It took more time to get my ice cream than to pay for it, and the "kids" there seemed more interested in talking about teen stuff than helping out. I can put aside the fact that I was passed over when I needed to get my order in, or the staff being a bit snippy when trying to place my order or pay for my ice cream. Can't trust kids to do an adult's job.
Sorry, until you guys get better on the greets, no tip this time, and usually I'm very lenient on tipping, if not tipping too much.
I'll come back, maybe it's an off night. And update on that visit....
