Oh. My. Goodness! This restaurant is lip licking, face licking, and finger licking good! Dress casual, pull your hair pack, and come with an empty stomach! The food is so delicious, after one bite, you'll forget the table manners your momma taught you and dive in with both hands! My best guess why they're called "Smokin' Fattys" is their name implies the extra large portions of food! I've only been there once (for Mother's Day); however, we read the reviews before we arrived and learned nearly everything on their menu was shareable! My husband and I chose the Trash Can Nachos with brisket added. For sharing , I would recommend asking for extra meat to make it more enjoyable for two! (Or as an appetizer with extra friends!) Then we tried the Sampler Dinner that came with 2 sides. (The only thing I would suggest to the restaurant would be to add 2 extra huspuppies, because I believe they know many couples share this dinner) Honestly, we didn't need to order this extra meal, but this was our first dining experience. We learned their food is addicting and we wanted to experience a much as we could without ordering half the menu. I don't know if it's the atmosphere, the phenomenal customer service or simply their flavorful food - we were euphoric and had zero self control. We ate until we couldn't breathe! Our waitress knew every detail about the menu. She didn't try to up-sell us and made sure we understood we didn't need anything extra. When she learned I had AML Leukemia, she shared with us her father passed away from liver cancer. In those minutes we bonded. (((Hugs to Wendy!))) I gave the waitress a small heart attack. After we tasted our food, she stopped to inquire if we were enjoying dinner. I looked at her with a very serious face and asked, "Do you want me to be honest with you?" Omg! The dread that came over her face! I added, "This is so F------g GOOD!" The relief and the laughter was so worth it! Sincerely, everything about this place is intoxicating! You will not regret a single bite, a single minute and you'll make a mental note of your next meal when you come back! I assure you, you'll want to return, because you won't be able to control yourself! We never had to ask for a refill or extra napkins. Our needs were fulfilled before we realized we needed anything. The atmosphere is causal, relaxing, welcoming without judgements of stuffing our faces like pigs. Ha ha! I believe they have daily specials. So, check with their social media or ask your server before ordering. I can promise you, if you eat here on regular basis, you will be a smokin' fatty!!! 😂🤤

Updated 3/26 - went during the afternoon and the place was a ghost town. The hush puppies were as good as remembered and our waitstaff was so nice and accommodating to our leisurely girls lunch. My only disappointment was that i think it was last night's leftovers for bbq. It was dry on the outside and chewy. Pit tatoes weren't smoky. Flavors were still good. Would still definitely go back, but at this point, probably only after 4 pm. Went here on a busy Monday night for their half-price boil. As a first-time patron, Emily was very patient with questions about recommendations, most popular menu items, etc. Wait time was what I would consider long for food to arrive, but it was a leisurely night with a good friend, so not tragic. The seafood boil was a good value for $15, but I wouldn't have paid more. Maybe, I'm just used to southern boils, but the dusting of Cajun seasoning was almost undetectable. The garlic butter had no flavor except a hint of movie theater butter. The sausage seemed like a summer sausage and not an andouille or other smoked sausage. But the crab and the shrimp were perfectly cooked, and we asked for more seasonings. The iced tea tasted like big city and was very refreshing. The stars of the evening, though, were the Jalapeño Hush puppies with the Sriracha honey butter and the Smokehouse Sampler. We ended up with 3 orders of hush puppies for the table and contemplated more they were so good! The ribs were so flavorful and tender. The burnt ends (while not burnt) were so tasty. Brisket was nicely smoked and a tad dry, but still worth talking about. The roast pork was dry, but not unexpectedly. Most struggle with that item on their menu. The smoked potatoes needed more cook time, but were average, and the elote corn was much better day two with extra lime and salt. Definitely will be going back to try their other options.

The food was good but was missing the good to great flavors you really want. After trying many sauce variations.... it still didn't meet my great expectations 😕 😞..... After making many Requests for different options and even having one of the items taken off of my table. Because it didn't even come close to being awesome at all. I refuse to touch it and add the lady. Remove it from my order. When I prepared a similar thing at home it was 10 times better.Of course, when they made it felt like they didn't even cook it.They just put it together raw. Steamed cabbage and vegetables had a nice appearance. But the cabbage wasn't cooked, wasn't steamed? A kind of felt raw. Instead of having a culmination of flavors, I felt like I was eating raw salad. When I was supposed to be experiencing sauteed cabbage and vegetables in a butter sauce. All the ingredients should have been soft. And easily edible , yet they were all crunchy and with my poor teeth I was unable to do any of it or Enjoy any flavors that I was supposed to enjoy from it. I did have. Pork belly And it did have a very wonderful appearance. But the large fatty pieces weren't quite rendered well enough to have the great flavors. I wanted. The bar b que sauces were all variations of too much mustard flavor and the white sauce was too much vinegar flavor. The heavy tones of mustard flopped my meal. Secondly the piece of food I had were really nice extra large bites. I wanted to cut them down to smaller bites but was only supplied a butter knife. After asking for a steak knife to cut my food with I was supplied with a filet knife. I'm guessing that was the only sharp knife ya'll had in the store. It did a great job and I could eat my food.. Overall, my enjoyment was lackluster. Hopefully my. Many contributions to give you all ideas for yall's restaurant would be beneficial to you in the future. Y'all have a ways to go to be come next level. Even The many items were really great The food wasn't up to that point of greatness yet. Yall, really need some good Hickory barbecue sauce.

My experience was horrible..frozen food cold food nothing fresh. So I went to Smokin Fattys about 3 days ago.. me and my boyfriend had very high hopes for this place. We see the pictures on Facebook of the food all the time and really wanted to go. So we went walked in and the place was very nice..we were greeted and walked to a booth. Ordered drinks and food. We spent a good of amount of money at this place. We ordered the 30 dollar crab boil, the birra tacos, beans, and a small order of rib tips. We get are food everything looked okay besides the seafood boil. The shrimp was frozen the potatoes were all mush and the corn was frozen still. We sent it back it came back the same. We didn’t even touch it. The crab legs were fine. The rib tips were cold to the touch, the queso was cold. The beans were amazing my favorite part honestly, also the tacos were lovely. After we finished we sat for a good 20 minutes while the waitress was giggling with other waitresses and sitting at the bar on her phone. Once she decided to finally come to us we told her about the sea food boil which she then went to talk to a “manger” witch we didn’t see at all not once the whole time, about the boil. We got half off for the boil still ended up paying 50 dollars for it witch was fine we weren’t looking to get money off just wanted good food..still tipped 20 percent as I am a waitress and understand something’s that happened in restaurants..I don’t mean to be negative but this was my experience at this place. First time going and last won’t ever step foot in there again..

For Midwestern BBQ this place was "pretty good". We were greeted at the door and seated. We ordered pulled pork, wings, and a heap of sides. As a Texan I'm hyper critical of BBQ. The pulled pork was smokey and hand pulled. It was a little on the dry side, but the sauce balanced it out. The wings were very smokey and had great flavor but we're also pretty dry. The mango habanero sauce was my favorite, but it could use more mango and a Lot more habanero. There sweetness of the molasses was so heavy that I barely got any pepper notes or heat. The jalapeno hush puppies were hot, fresh with pepper chunks and corn. They were flavorful and not too hot. Don't be afraid of them and definitely order them. The baked beans we're not bad but seemed like they took a can of beans and enhance them with onion and kidney beans. The mac and cheese was 10 out of 10, even better when topped with pulled pork. The side salad was ok, it would be better if the tomatoes were not diced and if it was topped with shredded cheddar. The elote was solid. Pro tip, save room for dessert! Overall this place is good and you absolutely should eat here! Once they hone in the smoke times and rest the meat it will be juicy perfection. This BBQ joint has a bright future, is looking for feedback, and should be supported! When I come back, I'll have to try the brisket and ribs! Ask for James as your waiter; he's great!

When traveling, we always enjoy finding the locally owned small businesses, so this BBQ joint was a treat. The star of the meal was Caitlin, who kept my lemon water glass full at all times. The pork belly was quite good but I found it tough to decide between that and the Dr. Pepper ribs (why not a two-meat plate option?). The Elote Corn was the BEST "street corn" I have ever had, off the cob, and seasoned perfectly. I would return just for that. The food all came out hot, and the presentation was just as you might expect at a BBQ place, with papered metal trays for each person and a roll of paper towels on the table. When we return to Elkhart, there is much more to try on the menu. Other food we tried was the shrimp app, hush puppy app, brisket cheese steak, beans, fries, and Cole slaw. The fries and Cole slaw were standout among them and the rest was quite satisfactory. (4 stars on atmosphere only because of some sticky surfaces that felt a little less than perfectly clean (menu, handrail). This stop is well worth a repeat visit. Thanks for a great meal in Indiana, our best in three visits.
