Safeway — Restaurant in Ellicott City

Had the worst experience here today EVER. I’m still shaken up about the whole situation and this has been about 5 hours ago. Happily drove from Columbia to this location to try them out for the first time today since moving here back in February. Got to the store parking was easy carts were stocked cart sanitizer was full. My husband my 11 year old son and i shopped and gathered all items we came there for pls a few extra things and headed to check out. We got to register 6 where we were the only ones in line and an Asian, or Chinese woman tended to us. She began ringing our groceries up and pushing them down to be bagged where there was NO BAGGER. Our 11 year old began to bad the small things he could. This turned really bad really quick! After begging the things he could he stopped because of course he’s a kid so he was occupied by his phone and regular kid things. The cashier then proceeded to shout at my husband to bag the groceries. Baffled and confused my husband began to bag a few things until she started yelling at me to bag things. At this point we all stopped! She then stopped ringing our groceries looked at me and said “these are your groceries bag your things my line is long there are other people waiting” at this point i asked for a manager to be called she refused! I walked away and went to customer service to have a manager called by then time i returned from customer service she was THROWING our things carelessly in a bag. She then looked up at me and yelled at me again for about the 5/6th time. The manager approached us she came from behind her register and yelled at him also until he told her to go to the office. Eventually someone else came to finish checking my family. The manager left went to the office and came back to ask if i was ok being there he saw how very PREGNANT i am and how volatile this cashier was being. He pulled my family and i to the side and apologized and told us that her behavior was definitely unacceptable and would be handled accordingly because customers and great customer service is very important to them. He also offered us a gift card to use and if we decide to return which he encouraged but after that encounter i doubt that i ever will. This was totally unacceptable and even though an apology and gift card were given i still feel very violated and wronged because honestly it wasn’t our job to bag our groceries nor did we deserve to be treated like that. Not to mention the disbelief on all the surrounding customers faces. Some even came over to make sure we were ok because of how this cashier...

I would give the 0 stars if I could I went in there yesterday and used a gift card someone sent me on my phone an had no problems. The girl scanned the bar code on my phone an everything was fine. Today I go to the same register an a old man was working and haveing trouble with the people in front of me he screwed something up for them so after waiting for 15 min I try to buy the same thing I got the day before a case of enegery drinks there is 12 dollars on the gift card so I go to check out an the old man can't figure out how to scan the gift card off my phone then this really rude blond women who I'm guessing was a manager comes over an before asking anything very abruptly say I u can't scan a gift card off your phone it's not allowed I tryed to tell her I did the same thing the day before with the same product at the same register but she wouldn't listen she just kept telling me I was wrong so I said fine an just left. That women was extremely rude an I think she should be kept away from the costumers because you just lost one because her her I will never shop at this store agin worst experience I have ever had at a grocery store!!!!!!!!! The most miserable shopping experience I've had in a long time. My shopping list had two items - both on sale. The first one was not on the shelf, so I asked for a rain check. The clerk refused because it was not yet the end of the sale. I had to insist several times before I was given one. Then the second item was not on the shelf. I went back for a rain check and was told I could only get one rain check per day. Of course, I insisted on a rain check, so the clerk brought in the manager. Now the story changed: I couldn't get a rain check for "soda" because the first rain check was for "soda". I had to repeat, over and over, that it was for two different brands of soda, two different sizes, and two different offers. When "the manager" finally relented and gave me the rain check, he told me, as if I had done something wrong, that most customers were not so insistent with him.
