Background: Placed an order on 9/9 using a gift card, at 4 PM for a same day 9 PM to 10 PM delivery time frame. At 9:40 PM, I received a notification that my order was delayed up to two hours so naturally I stayed awake to wait for the delivery as I would not have time to pick it up the following day. At 11 PM, I checked the link provided and it still said a continued delay. This led me to check what time the store closed, which was 11 PM. So I pretty much wasted my time Saturday night when I could've been sleeping. I called the customer care line and the rep told me my options were to either cancel or reschedule for the next day. I proceeded to ask why I was not informed that I would not be receiving the order as requested and he could not provide an answer. I can reschedule the delivery through my phone, that is not the priority in this situation. I decided to head to the store the next morning. At 6:30 AM on 9/10, a little after they opened, I asked to speak to the manager. I was directed to someone dressed in black standing in the produce section named Mike. Long story short, this conversation was pointless, it's clear that he is only there to collect an hourly paycheck. When asked why I was not notified that the store was essentially cancelling my delivery without providing a feasible solution, I was met with flippant responses such as "delivery STOPS at 10 PM" and negative facial expressions. He also stated that the order was delayed for a myriad of reasons but again, why say delayed instead of reschedule or unable to deliver? Halfway through the three minute conversation, he starts looking at his phone, ultimately ending the conversation. I really hope he is not customer-facing as his unprofessionalism and lack of respect will only drag this location down. At the very least, he had the Wal-Mart corporate number memorized which was immediately called after this encounter. I also noticed that when I tried to cancel this order, it said that it may not be possible due to it being delivered in the next two hours. Who agreed to a delivery in the next two hours on Sunday? I was not notified that that was occurring and I also would not be home to accept this overly delayed delivery which is why I specifically asked for Saturday.
TL;DR: Lack of follow-through for delivery orders. Lack of adequate communication when experiencing order delays. Delivery cancellations are lazily hidden behind the guise of a delay. Mediocre in-person customer service from a "manager". This is why I do not shop...
Read moreEdited review, it's getting so much worse. Today I nearly lost my toddler and they didn't care!!!! I refuse to ever shop here or any Walmart ever again. I never walk into a Walmart with anything above poor expectations. But today was awful. Not only does no one know where anything is, they won't help you find it or look up where it is or even ask another employee. When you arrive with reusable bags it's like going thru the tsa. If they accidentally put your items in a plastic bag and then you say, "oh I brought my bag" then they take it out and THROW AWAY THE NOT EVEN USED PLASTIC BAG! Not only do they look at you blankly at check out and make you pack your bags, but at the exit they want to go thru your entire inventory of purchased goods and go down the receipt one item at a time. Today she accused me of not paying for eggs because I had them out of the bag to keep them from breaking. She refused to acknowledge that they were on the receipt until she went over and rang them up, then she blamed me for it being labeled strangely on the receipt. Mind you, she let many people go out the door, some with reusable bags without checking a single receipt during all of this. She wouldn't let me chase after my 21 month old son who walked out of the store with strangers! He could have been kidnapped of injured! Thank God that those people were very kind and brought him back for me as I was yelling for him! Every single time I come here it is a huge ordeal to use my own bags but today was unbelievable. I'm still shaking. Never again. Walmart is anti family, doesn't do basic training for their staff and is ignorant to basic eco friendly initiatives. I have so many more words for management, I sincerely hope...
Read moreI hate to leave this review here, as my groceries did not come from the Ellicott City store. But, this review needs to be read by current and prospective customers of Walmart+ and the InHome add on. I opted to try out inHome as they were offering a free trial. There are many perks…no need to tip, they will put your food away for you, etc. It seems like it could be a good thing for someone handicapped like me.
I placed my first order with InHome (I have had Walmart+ for a few years). My order came from some else (not the EC store). I tracked it on my phone. The delivery window was between 2-6pm. It came after six. I didn’t think much of it at the time because I figured it was in a refrigerated truck. It was not. My dairy and meat was warm. My yogurt was hot. It was in the mid 80’s. And it was in the back of a hot truck for at least 4 hours. I assume longer. I texted with a representative from Walmart before giving them my phone number. I told them of the issue. They offered me $10. I was about to lose it. They eventually compensated me for the items of concern. It is ridiculous to have to educate them on food safety and handling. Not to mention the time and stress to resolve this matter. Now I will waste more time putting in a new food order. I am recent amputee and just starting to get around now. I am not going to risk further harm to myself because Walmart can’t get their act together. My subscription with Walmart+ ends in August. I will not be renewing. If they think this is acceptable, what other food safety/ handling rules/laws are they breaking? Sad.
Walmart is liable for stuff like this. I hope they figure it out before they make their customers...
