Cake Wala — Restaurant in Ellicott City

Decent taste ruined by shampoo?! I purchased a vanilla cupcake, pineapple cake, pistachio cake and nankatai cookies. My family ate the cupcake and when asked how they liked it they said, ok. They found it to be a little more dense than they usually prefer. The first thing I bit was the cookie. To my surprise the inside of the cookie had a chamber with a filling. While trying to determine what the components of the cookie were I noticed that one of the components was a human hair. After pulling the hair out and placing it on the table I found another hair. This hair proved to be a bit more challenging to extract but I was able to get it out.

After extracting the two hairs I find that I can taste the hair products and they’re strong. My almond milk was unable to dull or diminish the taste of product in my mouth.

I tried covering up the product taste with a bit of the pineapple cake. The top layer peeled away as I opened the container and remained stuck to the lid. I also tried a bit of the pistachio cake. Neither of them seemed to diminish the product taste. If I had to rate the cake on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best. I would probably rate the cakes 4 out of 10. That’s with me trying really hard to forget about the product taste.

As I sit here some 30 minutes later I still struggle to not focus on this product taste. I’m trying to decide what I can drink to at least mask it until it goes away.

I’m definitely not going to finish those cookies for fear of finding more hair. I’ll likely wind up passing on the cakes too. Although I didn’t find any hairs in the cake the hair and product taste from the cookie pretty much ruined the experience, not to mention feeling like I...

If I could, I would give a -5 rating. The food is horrible. My husband picked up the below on 11/11/2017 and I will go in the order of bad to worse 1.vada pav - anyone who has had the original mumbai vada pav will know at the first bite, that this is a pitiful attempt at making one. Have you ever seen vada pav without its signature red garlic chutney? Please visit cakewala... 2.vegetable sandwich - consists of few slices of cucumber, tomato over slightly curried paneer with green chutney. The taste leaves a lot to be desired. 3.vegetable burger with fries - absolutely horrible. One bite of the fries and out oozed oil that it had been pitifully slow fried in. It is very painfully obvious that the staff has either no experience or no interest in serving good food. I took one bite and threw it in the garbage - REST ASSURED this is not something I will feed my kid. Burger was okay - the patty was reasonably good, the taste - passable. Vegetable puff - HORRIBLE. This consists of frozen mixed vegetables that are cooked with some random masala and stuffed into the puff. Paneer puff - very dry and taste wise was very mediocre. You may enjoy hand tossed paneer with some MDH chaat masala wrapped in a tortilla or puff more than this puff.

chocolate and tiramisu cake - this is the only thing I had for dinner that I could reasonably swallow and enjoy. Tiramisu cake was good.

DONT RUIN YOUR PARTY. I have ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday party and by the time I went to pick up the cake, it was closed and there was a board saying that it is closed for maintenance and will be opened after 5PM by that time my daughters birthday party will be over at Pump it Up. I was shocked and with no option got a cake from walmart for the party. At 5Pm when I went to the store to pick the cake, the guy at front desk was least bothered about ruining my daughters birthday party and instead argued with me as why I didnt call as someone was inside the store, I showed him my cell phone that I made several calls and even banged the door several times short of breaking the glass with no response. He didnt say any thing and just gave the cake. I asked him, as why he is not even sorry once, not that iam expecting one, but atleast should have the courtesy as it was a mistake at their end, again the front desk guy started arguing that he doesnt need to apologize and raised his voice aggressively.
