No parking in front of the restaurant and there are signs in front of the building next door stating the parking is for those in that building. I believe parking is in back but you have to down a steep drive. I didn't see a ramp for wheelchairs in the front either and the bathrooms have an odd entry making it non accessible. I had to change chairs 3 times because the chairs were extremely wobbly and I felt unsafe. I have been there several times and though it was slow, I found it hard to find a waitress or bartender.the food wasn't tasty, but the brisket was so over cooked the bottom was burnt and hard. The pork ribs were had more meat than those at Chili's but still give this cowboy themed restaurant another star. It's not handicap accessible in any way, i only saw stairs, no ramp and cramped bathroom entries. No way for a wheelchair to access the restroom because a small wall provides an access barrier. Back to food. Known for its BBQ I found this place disappointing in every way: menu, price, access and parking. It's a common bar.for the neighborhood, a drinking hole with food. The BBQ is not barbequed onto the meat but sits in a squirt container. That's a good thing because I didn't like their homemade recipe, too much vinegar and surprisingly boarding. I will go back with the hope that another try means it was just a bad day at this...
Read moreDelicious BBQ in the hidden city of Elm Grove. I love driving through this little downtown as I only happen to do so when I am lost or by accident. There seems to be a few hidden gems here, and Silver Spur is definitely one of them.
This establishment sits in a building built in the 1800's with a nicely done rustic, old west decor with a wonderfully homey feel. The staff greets you with a smile, and the service was fantastic. We were trying the place out for a potential venue for our rehearsal dinner. The owner was available and eager to speak with us about his location. They are extremely accommodating and willing to work with you on just about anything. They have a nice space that can be closed off for private parties.
On to the meal itself. We started with a delicious homemade salsa, guacamole and chips. Literally everything they make is home made, fresh and very tasty. You can order a variety of meats on custom combination plates. The ribs melted off the bone and I love the bbq sauce on the side. The coleslaw and beans were great as well. The food was a perfect amount and filled me up without overdoing it.
UPDATE
We had out rehearsal dinner here and it was great! The food was amazing once again and very good service. Everyone loved it. Would highly...
Read moreSo you set a high bar for yourself as a restaurant when you use the term "texas smokehouse bbq." As part of that self-proclamation you are expected to be able to properly smoke a true brisket. Brisket usually entails a full brisket with a fat cap. Then, when properly smoked, it has a deep and penetrating smoke ring, with that smoky flavor and moistness that you expect Let's talk about the brisket I had tonight - zero smoke ring, thick, dry cuts of meat, that had the texture of corned beef. Zero moisture and as a compensatory afterthought, a warmed bottle of barbecue sauce came with the meal..This bore as much resemblance to true brisket as my leather briefcase. It was clear the fat cap had been removed, or that it was never present. When I asked when this brisket was prepared, the answer was "It is cooked for 12 hours." Either this brisket was prepared the day before and microwaved, or the sheer incompetence of the pitmaster was shining through. I could recommend about 20 other places worth driving 30 minutes or less for to get a great BBQ. My first recommendation is Mission BBQ, which practices the true art of smoking, and at least your money is going to help Veterans causes. New ownership has NOT done the new and far less than improved Silver...
