DIRTY! ILLEGAL PRACTICES! My Husband and I were just in the restaurant and as we were waiting for our hotpot and sushi I noticed that the pitcher of water was sweating and the table was becoming very wet. I took some napkins from the dispenser and proceeded to wipe the sides and then moved to wipe the underside of it. When I wiped about an inch around and pulled the napkin away and went to reposition the pitcher so I could get it dryer and noticed the thick dark brown and black sludge (mold) on the napkin. At that moment we both individually made the decision to leave without even saying what our intentions were. I've worked in restaurants before and if something as used as a water pitcher throughout the day isn't cleaned on a daily basis then my next thought is what else is there that isn't cleaned daily...... As a sushi restaurant that brings RAW foods to your table EVERYTHING should (if they value their customers lives) be immaculately clean and sanitary. As we were walking out I witnessed the person who waited on us behind the bar putting another pitcher into the ice bin. I told her that we were leaving and she turned with the pitcher in her hand and asked why. I explained to her the circumstances and pointed out that the pitcher in her hand (the one that she used to scoop out ice from the ice bin) had a dark ring exactly where I found the dark brown/black gunk that was on the one at our table. These water pitchers are clear should be clear all the way through and the underside is made of the same material that the pitcher portion is made of.
On another note. Upon looking at the menu it states that all you can eat sushi is $24.99 and written in it states that any uneaten pieces will bring a charge of $.50 per piece. It also goes on to say that you're not allowed to have a to-go container for the leftovers. Which is illegal. If you're paying for the leftover pieces those are now legally yours and you are fully entitled to take...
Read moreI believe they have recently changed their name to dumpling house. Or maybe they have recently changed from dumpling house to Yamato sushi house. I’m not sure which. Their sign out front says dumpling house and their menu still says Yamato sushi house. Identity crisis, no?
We went in thinking this was dumpling house so we ordered dumplings. I was craving some soup, dumplings, and shrimp hao gaos. At around 13 bucks each, they were quite good.
And just because I don’t quite feel full with having just dumplings for dinner, we also ordered their fried rice noodles. The pictures really don’t do justice for this amazing dish. They don’t have fried rice on their menu, but this noodle dish tasted just like fried rice And smelled like it too. Hubby and I were really pleasantly surprised. We added a chicken to the dish, but if coming back, I will stay with just a noodles without adding protein.
Our server who was Chinese, spoke very fast, and I had a hard time understanding everything he was trying to explain. But he was very eager, very nice, and very excited about us trying different foods. As it was Chinese New Year’s week when we went in, he told us to try their special New Year’s soup and that he was really really good. In fact, he was saying this to everyone who came in.
The soup was about $13, but not big like a bowl of pho. It came in the medium size bowl, clear broth, with a bunch of mini dumplings inside. It’s really not something that I would normally order, especially after ordering two orders of dumplings, but I must say the taste was pretty good. Would I have it again? I will have to remember not to get pushed over by the nice enthusiastic server.
Since we didn’t know, this was a sushi place going in. I had no sushi and don’t necessarily think I will. I hope they figure out their identity and stick to one thing. So far, I am happy with their dumplings and their fried...
Read moreI want to give this place a higher review. But I can't.
Went with fiance and some friends a few days ago.
Seated quick, drinks came quick. All good.
We all ordered things we thought we might like, filled out our cards, and waited.
And waited. It took a while to get everything out, what seemed like longer than it should have taken, given that there was only one other table there, and they were starting to finish up when we got there.
The sushi itself, mixed bag. We all tried new things. Some were good, some were great, some were.....never to be ordered again. But hey, thats the sushi life!
After the first round was delivered, waiter only came around once more, to fill drinks, and that was prolly halfway into our plates. We finished what we were going to of our first plates (remember, some things were to never be ordered again), I wanted another roll of one flavor, took forever, had to flag waiter down basically. That roll came out fairly quick.
After that, we waited and waited and finally had to go get the waiter so that we could get our bills. Between our plates we definitely had leftovers, things we didn't want to eat any more of. We told the waiter we knew the charge for unfinished items, just go ahead and put it on the bill.
Dont know if dude just wasn't understanding English, or what the case was, but we finally got our bills, finally got cashed out, and left.
Plus side, dude didn't bill us for the unfinished items (we were willing to pay, 3 of us all said so). Negative side, didn't leave much tip because the service fell off like a rock after the plates hit the table.
Want to give a higher review, but can't. Prolly also wont go back either. A shame, the price was great and the food was most...
