Edit: The owner reached out to me and has been very honest and forthright about my experience. I very much appreciate his approach and have changed my review. The food here is very good and the review below was never about the quality of the food, only the level of service. He has been very diligent in the efforts to make ammends and in trying to understand where the disconnect occurred. This makes me happy, because I have been here several times in the past and have been very happy with the quality of their food. Thank you!
BUYER BEWARE! I wasn't going to leave a negative review because I hate to do that. I ordered a pizza and a salad on Saturday for my co-workers. I ordered online so they had everything in black and white. I did curbside delivery so when they brought it to my car it didn't look correct because a asked for extra Caesar dressing. When I mentioned it wasn't in the bag I was told that the dressing is included with the salad so the extra was in the box with the pizza. After asking three times I went with it. I felt like I was having to argue about it. I had also asked for plates, napkins, and utensils. When I got back to work I realized that there were only one set of utensils and no extra dressing as requested. Now I was pretty annoyed that it was wrong after being told THREE times that it was right so I called back to speak to the manager who DID credit my meal (I told her that is not what I was after). I just wanted to be heard. I also told her that if was NOT going to leave a negative review because that's what must people would have done on Saturday. Fast forward to today ( Monday) when I called to inquire if they sold the balsamic reduction and pesto and was told that I could buy an 8 Oz container for $5. When I got there and called to make the purchase and add on, I was given a different total. When I questioned that I was told the balsamic was $5.95 instead of $5 and I said OK. I was in the process of giving her my card to run when she put me on hold and said "the balsamic is actually more" $8.45! When I asked how we got from $5 to $8.45 am she could say is "well that's what it is". I said no thank you. That's TERRIBLE business practice! I...
Read moreVisited for the first time with my dad last weekend. We went in the early afternoon, I was surprised we were the only people there. The server was very friendly. We tried the jalapeno and bacon stuffed cheese bread, which was a generous service and excellent.
My dad had a personal pizza with ground sausage, mushrooms, and green peppers. I ordered a large pizza with double Giacomo’s Pepperoni, double italian sausage, Coppa di Parma (A type of cappicola), caramelized onions, roasted garlic, anchovies, extra cheese, and a truffle oil drizzle.
Interestingly, their ground Italian sausage is not in the clumps that you normally expect. It didn't affect the flavor at all, it does have a different texture that can lead to a little 'taste bud confusion'. Once I realized where the dissonance was coming from, it was fine.
With the exception of feeling like my pizza could have used more cheese (I'm from Chicago, extra cheese usually gets you a pretty good blanket of it), everything else was very good. I also understand that they use fresh mozzarella that they make in-house, this bumps up the cost, so next time I'll do double-extra! :)
I may not get the caramelized onions next time - not because the flavor was bad, but the combination of oils/grease from my toppings made the middle of the crust soggy. I'm confident this issue was due to my topping selection, as the crust closer to to the edge was still firm enough to hold it's form.
My dad was only moderately happy with his pizza, he felt the green pepper was lacking, and distribution of mushrooms was very uneven (heavy clumps of mushrooms in some areas, almost none on other slices).
Given that I ordered quite a few premium toppings, I thought the pricing was fair.
I will definitely be visiting a few more times, and changing up my toppings to see if I can hit all my...
Read moreDid we come on a bad night? Saw the generally very positive reviews for Pandora‘s and decided to give it a try. Ordered a specialty pizza of theirs with roasted garlic, onions, spinach, portabellos on a red sauce base. We added 1/2 grilled chicken and 1/2 sausage. I’ll preface this review with the disclaimer that I’ve made pizza at home for the number of years and this is my first Time I’ve given a negative review for pizza. Crust-very little taste, and very little yeasty character, just brittle and crackery. Almost seemed like they leaven it mostly with baking soda/powder. Sauce-not sure I could say I liked it or not because there was so little of it. I had to look under the items to see if they actually put some on the crust Toppings-The onions and garlic were tasty and well prepared. The mushrooms had been marinated in a pretty strongly vinegary marinade which made them pretty offputting to me though. There were a FEW leaves of spinach on the pizza but indistinguishable in taste. The sausage was tasty and added some flavor to an otherwise fairly bland pizza. The grilled chicken was recommended by the waitress but it was incredibly dry and actually hard as it was placed on on the pizza last which didn’t do any favors for it. Our salad was actually great. Prosciutto, sunflower seeds, red onions and a tasty homemade ranch dressing. Lettuce could’ve been chopped to allow it to be more easily eaten Kudos on the locally sourced ingredients
The ice cream at Smitty’s was much better. I’m being generous with two stars…. I have seen responses from the management and yes I know the majority of reviews for this restaurant are...
